My Mom uses an ECV in the parks.
Where is the best place to watch from without having a bunch of people push in and stand in front of us before the parade begins??

The wheelchair viewing locations are in Liberty Square (across from HoP), Castle Hub, and Town Square

This screenshot shows the locations of the 3 handicapped viewing areas at MK.

The one in the castle hub is usually the busiest/most crowded.
The Frontierland area is narrow in some places, which can help with separation.
If you need quick access to a restroom, the one in the Main street hub is convenient to restrooms.

All of them can fill up quickly, so plan to get there about 1 hour ahead of the parade.
Guests sitting on mobility devices are usually placed very close together in a row across the front of the viewing area and there will be space for at least one member of your group to stand behind you.
If it’s very busy, the CMs may start a second row of mobility devices behind the first row.
Depending on how full the area is, they may limit each group to one companion.

I forgot there are no benches to sit on for those with the ECV user, like in Disneyland. I know we won't want to stand for an hour waiting for the parade. Will have to figure out something else.

You may not need to get there an hour early sometimes just 10-15 minutes before the parade starts is enough. And depending on where you are there might be a set close by

Thank you, gap. I am trying to find where some seating might be. I'm just afraid people will crowd in in front of us right before the parade starts. I've heard lots of stories about how rude parade watching people can be! I think they handle this better in Disneyland. We have never had a problem there.

For what it is worth, there are benches around Town Hall, Mickey’s theatre and on the second floor of the RR station. We were there last week and found good spots on the porch of Mickey’s theatre.

Most of the bench areas are not flush with the parade route though so you will have to decide which is more important, a seat for the time being or front row for the parade. Any space in front of the bench is open for anyone to use, KWIM? I think your best bet would to get an early spot along the route, have the ECV in front and center, as close to the ropes as possible. Have adults stay on either side. You can sit on the ground while you wait. If you are going to stand up during the parade, let the people behind you know that.

I've only been vaguely aware of the handicapped areas during the parade but I do remember walking by them as the parade was about to start and I don't recall seeing people trying to stand in front of the ECVs/wheelchairs. There also seemed to be cast members about handling things. This was mainly in the Liberty Square area. The area near the castle probably tends to be worse and *may* have more of those violators there doing that sort of rude thing.

Do you need to sit during the parade or just before if it is just before and can stand during the parade find a spot in one of the handicap area have the person in the wheelchair ECV get there spot up front then the person standing can find a set ( like on the little wall in some area) then when the parade starts go stand

DH and I could stand while waiting and also during the parade, but prefer not to. Being on your feet so much all day, waiting for the parade would be a nice time to sit. Is that wall across from where they had the muppet show near Sleepy Hollow a place to see the parade? I'm thinking people might crowd in front of you in the places where you can find a seat. I'd rather stand and wait rather than have to deal with rude people.

You can try but there is alway a chance someone will jump infront of you

Hi, dizneefan13.

Check out my list of links in my signature below:

I took some photos in that thread. If you want you want to sit down on a wall that is not far from the wheelchair rope to watch the MK parade, I would go to the Liberty Square handicap area.

This is the only area that I can see where you can sit on the wall behind a wheelchair or mobility scooter. It is a small area as you can see and you can park the wheelchair at the rope and sit on the wall. If someone tries to squeeze in between you and the wheelchair, I would just stand up behind the wheelchair. In this particular photo, it is hard to put another wheelchair and especially another mobility scooter one behind the other. A little further down the wall ends and mobility devices might possibly be stacked one behind the other.

There is one bench in this City Hall handicap area, but it is located against the back under the tree and not close to the ropes.

This is the handicap area in the center circle. They usually line the mobility devices along the rope at 0300 and continue around to the end of the rope around 0600 of the circle if needed. No place to sit except on the ground.
