Hey all,

I remember last year or so there was a lot of buzz about Jon favreau working with Pixar developing a movie about the magic kingdom coming to life..... Has there been any update on that?

Jon favreau is now working on a film for jungle cruise, so Disney may attach another director or wait a couple of years till Favreau is finished.

On a side note: It's fun to imagine if Disney is going with an 'Avengers' approach to this and have a couple of single attraction films that connect with each other that lead up to the Magic Kingdom film, but only time will tell.

I keep hoping they'll decide to make a movie based on kingdom keepers, which is about the parks coming to life at night. I can understand that it wouldn't be popular enough for theater release, but it might make a good Disney Channel movie.

A kingdom keepers film was very close to getting made but it fell through, I think this happened for many reasons, including teen action films don't do well at the box office and they don't know how they would approach the "hidden magic" part of Disney World. But I agree, I love kingdom keepers and if they made a movie it would be like inception meets Harry potter meets Disney world, a full blown epic.

Both movies are still in the "development" phase. It can take several years.

As far as I know as of last week Favreau was only in talks about directing Jungle Book, with nothing being confirmed. Either way it shouldn't stop Favreau from moving forward with Magic Kingdom unless Disney wants to fasttrack JB ahead of it. But they don't have a script yet.

But I don't know if they've settled on a script for Magic Kingdom either. I know Ron Moore did the first treatment and they decided to chuck it and try again with someone else.

Anyone remember all the buzz about a Jungle Cruise movie starring Hanks and Allen? That went nowhere...

Deadline reports that Favreau IS signed for Jungle Book, the latest draft is about done, and they want to start filming next year for an October 9th, 2015 release. This could mean the Magic Kingdom movie is on the back burner, and even possibly shelved indefinitely.
