Magic Kingdom Is Going To The Dogs!

I love dogs, I have a dog...but ugh. I just don't understand why people feel the need to drag theirs everywhere. I hope they've well and vacated the park by RD and that this doesn't screw up our park day too much.

I think it's a pretty cute idea, but boy doesn't give anyone interested much time to do anything about it. Posted today and must enter by 24th.

Yeah that's not happening in this household.

Did you even read it?? Disney is ASKING people to bring the dogs and it is BEFORE park opening.

It shouldn't screw up *your* park day very much at all.

:confused3

Nothing in the "Do's" about scooping? ;)

LOL and I didn't see anything about the dog being friendly either!

Maybe I can pump mine full of Benadryl and muzzle him up and noone will notice? :rotfl:

Kidding of course :)

Can people who don't have their dogs with them go?! Oh my gosh I would LOVE to see this!!!

Why yes, I did read it, thankyouverymuch. I also know that sometimes plans aren't well thought out (like something announced a week in advance), and don't go as well as the person who thought them up seems to think they'll go. This event starts at 7 a.m...they're doing a walk down Main Street and around MK, having a "doggie danceparty" and serving a light breakfast. When are these 101 dogs and their owners and their guests going to be exiting the park? How are they exiting? The opening show typically starts at 8:40ish, and I'm not sure if you're aware, but with A&E and 7DMT, RD at the MK has turned into a madhouse again. Is part of the courtyard going to be blocked off so these dogs can exit? If so, that will mean less space for day guests to watch the opening show and get into the park. Will they close off one side of the entrance so that the dogs can exit on that side while guests are forced into the other side? How much time are they allowing for cleanup? I'm sure every. single. dog chosen for this would never, ever poop or pee in a Disney park, right?

I agree that it's going to be cool for the people selected to participate, but I'm hoping that it doesn't affect our park experience at all.

I am 100% sure Disney is aware that dogs will need to use the restroom and have made preparations for this. It's Disney. You aren't going to be finding dog poop lying around, I promise you.

I wish I could do this! My little runt is pretty much the cutest thing ever (I'm not the least bit biased or anything!) and I could definitely dress him up, but it's just such short notice :sad1: I suppose he'll have to experience the Disney magic through the stories I tell him after every trip :lmao:

Maybe not poop, but if I recall correctly, there is zero grass available for dogs to do their business. It is all fenced off to prevent people from walking on the grass.

I think this may turn out to be another "great in theory, not so great in practice" ideas.

Why not just

(1) Wait and see what actually happens instead of flipping out in advance?

and

(2) Plan a different park for that day if you're not capable of #1.
