I’d like to have some true talk without anyone getting upset because I'm sure there are lovers and haters for this event.

Is the dessert party worth it?
How long can you stay after HEA is over?
Do they have regular every day items or is everything more gourmet like?

I always said I’d never pay for this party, but I’m having some foot & knee issues that I’m starting to rethink our fireworks watching strategy. Normally we get in our fireworks spot 1 1/2 - 2 hours before the show and all that standing in one place is just not good for me anymore. So, maybe the $250 for my DD21 and I to have a good seat and enjoy some treats might be worth it.

So, give me the good, bad and the ugly about this so I can definitely know if I should budget for this on our next trip :smickey:

I am a big fan of the MK dessert party. I don’t like fighting the crowds to watch the fireworks or sitting on the ground for a long periods of time…I am attaching pics so you can see the views… we got the rail the 1st time we went because we got there right on time… We were a little late the second time, but the view is still great… As for the food… It’s not gourmet… There is cheese and fruit and crackers… And then various desserts… My personal favorite was the trace leches cake… But there are a ton of options… Definitely something for everyone… Also included are drinks… And it includes alcohol if you drink… Not sure about how long you can stay afterwards… We were always ready to get up and into the parks… But they aren’t rushing you out… so overall, I think it’s worth it… I enjoy not having to fight for a view… And the food and drinks are pretty good…

We’ve done it the last couple of years because our child is still short enough that one of us would have to carry him for the entire show in order for him to see. Both times we’ve gotten there at least a half hour before check in begins and gotten seated right in front of the rail. Once you’ve checked in and been assigned a table you can leave and come back. My husband and son usually leave and do another ride after check in while I stay at our table with a glass of wine.

The view is obstructed by trees and the desserts are okay. If you feel like having the seats will make watching the fireworks easier for you, and you can afford the cost, you should do it. I see it as paying for the convenience and the dessert and drinks are just an add-on.

We don't do it every trip, but it's worth it from time to time. The desserts are OK, but you're really paying for the view. With that in mind, we always line up 30-45 minutes early so we can get a table at the railing.

We’ve only done it once, ages ago, when they offered two parties and the park was open until midnight or 1am. We did the after party then and it was fabulous. Gave us great seats for the fireworks, a fun place to hang while the crowds cleared out, and sugar to keep us going. With those circumstances, it was very worth it.

Thank you all for posts and @daae3 for your pictures.

We’re in the process of acquiring our first DVC contract (we’re in the ROFR stage of the process) and we are going to start taking it easy on our future trips. We love BLT so walking back to the room for dinner, and then heading back for the dessert party, seems ideal for us, but only if it’s worth it, and you all made me feel it is. So I will budget this into our future trips.

Thanks again :smickey:

I am also a big fan of the dessert parties, but not the Treats and Sweets. I do them for the view of the fireworks, and from the terrace the trees block the bottom of the castle, and the fireworks are slightly off-center. If having a chair and table throughout the experience are important to you, then those small degradations in the view are probably worth it. But I prefer the pre- or post-fireworks parties, because the view from the hub area is so much more centered, and you can see the entire castle.

There is no need to get to the area early. We get there right before the show starts, and hang at the back of the area. Everyone rushes toward the front, so there is plenty of space around us, and a great view. Cast members make sure no one has children on shoulders.

We agree with most of the posts here. We don't do it every trip, but when we want to know we have a good spot for the fireworks/projections, we do the party. It's expensive, yes. But it is less stressful and we get some goodies out of it. On a busy day on Main Street, the crowds are just too tight and too unpredictable to make it a good experience. When we do the party, we can usually sit until the show starts, stand up and enjoy the show, then wait a few minutes for the crowds to head towards the exit or other parts of the park.

We’ve done the parties where for the fireworks you have seats at a table (lucked out to be closest to the railing) and where you stand in the garden, and I liked the garden view the best. We too hang towards the back and lean against the fence. The post fireworks party wasn’t offered when we’ve gone, but I think I’d like sitting to enjoy treats while crowds empty out afterwards.

Thank you for your continued replies - they are very appreciated 🙂

I just recently got reservations for the post party. Anyone have a preference for the pre vs the post party? I think by then we will be done with the park and ready to leave, so as someone said, to be able to sit and enjoy ourselves after the fireworks seemed like the way to go. I have done the Tomorrowland Terrace party in the past and it was not a good experience. We had great seats, but people came and stood in front of us, so we either had to stand or not see. They would not move.

We prefer the pre party for the simple reason it gets a little late (for us) to get all sugared up before heading back to the room! The pre party gives us an extra 90 minutes or so to process!! But there are definitely advantages to the post party. First, you avoid all the mad rush to exit the park or head to more attractions after the show. Also, we've seen a number of folks who will bring takeout orders of food with them to the seating area, grab a seat while the 'pre' folks are doing their party, and eat.... then they watch the show and head over for dessert after!
