I've heard several people say that you should plan to be at MK about 45 minutes before rope drop to get a good view of the show and out yourself at the front of the crowds.

What would y'all suggest for a day with morning magic hours at 8:00am? Still 45 minutes early, or could we push that up a bit and still be good?

We usually get there 15 to 20 minutes early. Thats plenty just to see the show. If you want to be one of the first in the park then 45 minutes sounds about right.

One thing to keep in mind is that you can't have a good view AND be in the front of the crowd. To be in front of the crowd you need to be standing at the rope by the tunnel - you can't see the show well from there.

Hadn't thought of that -- thanks. We'll be there plenty of days, so I guess I'm not concerned about being the first one on Main Street, we just want a good view of the show. Sounds like we can get there by 7:40 and we'll be good.

Thanks for the help!

Absolutely correct..if you want to be among the first admitted in, and walk up Main Street with the CM holding the ropes, you will not have a view of the show, as you need to stand by the tunnels that go under the train station. if you are trying to high tail it over to say 7DMT, you need to do this, or the line will be formed by the time you get there..

While others say 45 minutes, we are usually in line one hour prior, and enjoy chatting with others and taking our last bathroom break before the ropes drop! If you are coming from a Disney resort and take the bus, timing is easier to estimate, if you are staying off site and driving allow much more lead time. Also if staying off site remember that there are early morning magic hours some days for Disney resort guests.

Thanks -- this must have been where I saw the 45 minutes being mentioned. It's not to see the show, but to be at the front of the 7DMT crowd. The change in EMH in October has kind of thrown us off. We get in Sunday evening, so Monday will be our first park day. We're planning on the MK to start our trip, which unfortunately now has 8:00am early magic hours! Luckily we are getting park hoppers, so we'll do MK from 8:00 to 12:00ish, then head over to HS or somewhere else for the afternoon with fast passes. I've just been trying to figure out how far in advance we need to get to the ropes in order to see the show on our first park day.

Thanks for the help!
