Magic Keyholder park hopping?

A Magic Keyholder friend said that Keyholders were currently prohibited from park hopping.

I had never heard this and it sounded weird to me, but as I'm not a holder, I honestly don't know the score.

Can anyone verify if this is truly the case?

Both park hopper ticket holders and keyholders can park hop starting at 1PM assuming there is capacity in the other park. You can hop back and forth any time after 1.

At least right now, I have not heard of either park in California limiting park hopping although Magic Kingdom in Florida did restrict park hopping on the anniversary due to capacity.

All Magic Keys are automatically park hoppers, subject to the existing park hopping rules. Currently the park hopping is permitted after 1:00pm. If that rule changes, then the Magic Keys will be subject to those changes.

The fine print reads:

Magic Key holders who have a park reservation for both theme parks may cross over and switch between parks on the same day beginning at 1:00 PM. Please check the Park Hours calendar and the Disneyland app for the most up-to-date Park Hopper hours, as they could start earlier at a later date, depending on the day and park. Magic Key holders who have a park reservation for both parks must enter the first park as designated in their park reservation prior to visiting the other park. At this time, a park reservation is not required after visiting the first park; however, reservation requirements are subject to change. Please note that the ability to visit the other park will be subject to that park’s capacity limitations.

Thanks. I thought my friend was wrong, but I didn't want to be argumentative and she is usually very informed about park goings-on.

You just need to find a reservation day with both parks available, correct?

For now, you just need to have A park reservation. And you will be able to go to both parks after 1pm.

This is where I think some people get confused. On the app, the availability calendar shows which parks are available as the starting park for the day (the one you need to enter first), but once in either park you can hop after 1:00 (currently, subject to change). The calendar will show neither, either one or the other, or both parks available. You don't have to pick a day with both parks showing available in order to hop on that day.

The fine print reads:

Okay, wait, to clarify that "Fine print", it says you have to have a "have a park reservation for both theme parks." to be able to use the park hopper option.

Just as I needed to find a slot when

Oh, really? So if I want to go to both DLR and DCA, it doesn't matter if the availability on the reservation calendar just shows DLR? I can still hop at 1:00?

It's only to determine starting park?

Good to know!

That's the fine print that gets everyone confused. The system actually doesn't let you reserve both parks on the same day.

I think this is holdover verbiage from the Flex pass, and it suggests to me that if they lift the 1:00 parkhopping restriction in the future, they may go back to the Flex system of offering the parks individually as well as a "both parks" hopper.

The fact that the fine print says you need both parks AND the fact that the reservation itself says "all day" for the one park you reserve... I definitely see why people are so confused. It's bad communication on Disney's part.

It was a source of mass confusion in August when the Magic Keys rolled out.

Yeah, the fine print goes on to say that AS OF NOW, a reservation for the second park is NOT necessary. I know, it’s super confusing!
