DD's (fairy) godmother, my best friend Lisa, invites us to a day in MK while she is in Orlando with her roommate from New York. We accept! So excited! :cool1: We had originally planned on just hanging out at DTD since we were already planning a trip in April and didn't think we could budget an impromptu trip. But Lisa wanted to experience MK with DD, it would be DD's first time. Well we went when she was 10 months, but this would be her first time knowing what was going on. We made plans to meet on Sunday.

DH was on duty until 8am Sunday, otherwise we would have left earlier. And he had to leave for work at 5:30am, otherwise we would have stayed later! Anyways WDW is about 2.5-3 hrs from Jacksonville. The morning looked clear and sunny, very promising! We left Jacksonville at 9:30am, with me driving so DH could rest in the car. Thankfully, DD was VERY good in the car! No small feat for a 2 1/2 year old!!! We finally reached Lisa's timeshare in Vacation Village at the Parkway in good time, it was 12pm. The drive was not bad at all, and I didn't mind it one bit. After a little chit chatting and Lisa doting on Trinity (hadn't seen her since she turned 2 last July), we were on our way to the Magic Kingdom!

We parked in the Happy lot, waaaaay back there! DD was excited just to ride the tram and the monorail, all the while saying "Disneyworld! Disneyworld! I'm going to Disneyworld!!!" When we got to the MK entrance, there were a bunch of characters out front! BUT there were also lots of long lines. DD seemed apprehensive at first, and didn't want to see them. But we finally convinced her to get in line for Minnie Mouse. Right when we got in line, a CM told us that the characters would only be out for 5 more minutes. We decided there was no way we'd get to the front of the line in 5 minutes, so into MK we went.

Ah Main Street! As soon as DD saw the castle her face lit up and she was just smiling and pointing! "The castle, the castle!", as she held Lisa's hand. It was great. I think that moment alone made the trip worth it :) None of us wanted to stop in the shops, so we made our way to the castle, took some pictures in front and whaddaya know! It was time for Cinderellabration. DH put DD on top of his shoulders, and they made their way to closer to get a better view while Lisa, her roommate Leeshen and I watched from a distance. The show was very cute, the dancing, singing. Trinity was so excited to see all the Princesses! princess: And whoa, all the way from the back we could see Jasmine's 6 pack :earseek:

From there, we made our way straight back to Fantasyland and got on the teacups. By this time, boy was it hot :sunny: Not unbearrably so but I was wearing jeans so it felt a lot hotter to me. DD LOVED the teacups! The breeziness of the ride definitely cooled us down. DH took lots of pictures, while the girls had all the fun

I wanted to go on Pooh next, but the wait was about an hour long. Decided to Fast Pass it, and the return time was for between 5-6. It was about 2pm at this time. So we decided to try our luck at It's a Small World, which, lucky us! was open. DH parked the stroller towards the back of the line... more on that later. It had been newly refurbished and just opened the day before. The wait was not bad at all, 30 min, and it moved along rather quickly. DD loved this as well, though grew a bit restless at the end. She was getting tired and hungry. I didn't notice anythign different in IASW, but the water was cleaner and the colors brighter. It looked a lot less "retro" :p

Where's the stroller??? :confused3 When we got out, the stroller was not where we parked it. DH and I weren't used to the park being as crowded as it was and didn't remember having trouble w/ stoller parking. A CM had parked strollers in the designated area. Took us a bit to figure that out!

We decided it was a good time to break for lunch, and had some yummy burgers at Pinnochio's Village Haus. Again DH parked the stroller outside an area outside the restaurant where others were parked. Inside we had a weird moment with an older female CM. We were all standing away from the line, deciding what we wanted to eat, when she approached us and told us to get in line. Lisa says 'oh, we're not ready yet, we're still deciding' (it wasn't crowded and no one else was waiting). CM says "Well this is the line and you have to get in it". Uhhhh.... OK! Geez. oh well. wasn't much to select from anyways. DD got a <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=hot%20dog" onmouseover="window.status='<a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=hot%20dog" onmouseover="window.status='hot dog'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">hot dog</a>'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">hot dog</a>, and she ate the entire thing! Nearly unheard of because DD is sooooo picky, and even when she's starving she is the pickiest, fussiest eater. But she was just having such a good time and was enjoying the company. Must've been the magic of Disney :p Oh, I love how they offer carrots instead of fries! and fruit too.

Where's the stroller, again?! :confused3 DH found it again, where the CM had brought it before. We laughed it off. That taught us to PARK in the designated stroller areas!!! Again, DH and I weren't quite used to the crowd. We'd always gone at times when there weren't lots of people. Ah well!

We headed off to Peter Pan, and DD seemed all energized. She was great in line, so happy and entertaining herself and us as well. Well, towards the end of the line she slowed down and finally climbed into Lisa's arms, put her head on her shoulder. We were literally about to get on the ride when DD conked out! :rotfl: While on the ride, DH kept trying to wake her up, to no avail. It was naptime! DD doesn't even take naps anymore :goodvibes But it was good timing, besides missing the ride. DH and I enjoyed the ride, which neither of us had ever been on. Though he commented that someone could really get hurt if they fell off. Guess that's just the daddy in DH, always thinking of the safety hazards.

While DD napped, Lisa, Leeshen and I decided it would be the perfect time to ride POTC pirate: . We made our way there, while DD slumbered in the stroller. DH stayed behind, how noble :) We girls loved the ride, but all agreed that they need to add more light. My eyes just felt so strained the whole time. Still it was fun! When we got out, DD was just waking up and still a big grumpy. We realized we only had 15 minutes left before our Fast Passes for Winnie the Pooh expired. So we BOOOKED! DH held DD, as I rampaged through Frontierland with an empty stroller :p I parked it in a DESIGNATED STROLLER PARKING AREA and with 5 min to spare, we got into the FP line of the Pooh ride. I thought it was a super cute fun ride, and DD loved it as well. Still, I missed Mr. Toad's ride... I still remember that one as a little girl. :guilty:

With that done, it was time for a Dole Whip! DH and I had been dreaming of them all week. Lisa and her roomate had never heard of them, let alone have one. Boy what a treat that was! DD had her chocolate of course. And I thanked the DIS for my knowledge on Dole Whips. Aloha Isle is so small, it's easily passed. So thanks DIS :disrocks:

Off to Tomorrowland. DH and Leeshen really wanted to go on Space Mtn, but FP time was over and the wait was 75 min long!!! They decided to skip it, and we went to Mickey's Toontown instead. DD really enjoyed Minnie's house, and stayed in her kitchen for a good amount of time. She played in the playground for a bit, and wanted to do Barnstormer but she was aout 1/2 inch too short. maybe next time. By this time it was almost 8, and we were winding down. Time for Spectromagic!

We tried to make our way closer to the entrance of MK so we could leave right away. Spectromagic was pretty cool, we thought. Though those characters with the glowing faces kinda creeped me out. They didn't seem to bother DD one bit. After the parade, we made our way back to our car. We were pooped! Oh! and we got to sit in the front of the monorail, which was awesome :goodvibes

A long goodbye... we had a late but enjoyable quiet dinner outside the parks at Red Lobster. We reviewed our day and DD was still a good egg :) throughout the entire dinner. Finally we had to say goodbye to Lisa and Leeshen and we were back on the highway, leaving behind a wonderful, magical day. So we didn't do everything we could have done, but it was nice to take it slow, go at DD's pace and still enjoy the park. All you really need is good company and the magic comes to you all on its own :wizard:

fabulous day and great report

sounds like a great "first" trip for your little one - thanks for posting

Loved your report ~ Sounds as though you had a wonderful day.

glad you had such a good day. One tip for your next trip. Your fast pass won't expire as long as you use it on the correct day. You can't use your fast pass earlier than the time stated but you can use it later.
