Magic Express confusion

We are set to use the Magic Express for our arrival for our trip next week.

I am confused after reading some posts, and want to make sure I have it right before we get there.

Can we collect our own luggage from baggage claim and still use the magic express? Our flight gets in at 11:05 a.m., and we were hoping to go to the resort, check all our bags in, and then do a park until later on. We really don't want to carry all our carry-on luggage through the park with us and thought it would just be easier to check them all in at once. Obviously, we'll have things in our carry-ons for the flight, but we won't need them once we get to Orlando.

Is this do-able? Any advice? If you can't tell, this is our first trip to Disney.

Thanks!

First of all, :welcome: :disrocks:

Here is how DME is designed:

You put the special DME luggage tags on your checked bags before you leave home. You check them in with your airline, like normal.

When you land in Orlando, skip baggage claim and go right to the DME Welcome Center. You'll be told which bus to go to, and you'll be on your way. You'll have your carry-on bags with you. The DME driver CAN put them under the bus for you, but if they're small enough you can take them onto the bus with you.

When you arrive at your resort, get your carry-ons if the driver put them under the bus. Check in at your resort's front desk. Even if it's not yet check-in time, your room MAY be ready. Even if it's not, you can still check in, get your park tickets (if you don't already have them), get the key to your room (which won't work yet), as well as a phone number to call to find out your room assignment. That way, when you get back to the resort, you can go right to your room without bothering with the front desk when you get back from a park. YOU CAN HAVE THE RESORT STORE YOUR CARRY-ON BAGS FOR YOU -- NO NEED TO CARRY THEM AROUND A PARK!

Your checked bags will be delivered to the inside of your room whether you're in there or not, so it's not like you have to wait around for them. If you don't need anything immediately from your luggage, then I can't imagine why you'd want to slow yourself down at the airport by waiting for your checked bags when you can just ignore them and they'll be automatically delivered to you.

I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, please post again!

Again, WELCOME!

To answer your other question more concretely, YES, you can still use DME even if you claim your own checked bags at baggage claim. If you do that, just make sure you DON'T put the yellow DME luggage tags on your bags.

Again, if you're not going to have any immediate need for your luggage, please allow me to suggest just having them delivered via DME. Why not use a free, convenient and time-saving feature?

"It is" far less cumbersomeness and confusion and tips and delay to let DME deliver the baggage you don't need right away directly to your room.

If you did not get yellow tags, it is just a miniscule added effort to have magical delivery, picking out what your baggage looks like on charts at the welcoming area.
