What is the process when you check-in at the Magic Express Counter at the airport? Do you need to show ID for everyone in your party or any ID at all? I remember something about having to show ID but can't remember the exact details.

ME is just the bus ride RAC is remote airline check in. It is just like showing at the airport. ID for everyone that needs ID to fly. I believe they also need to be present.

The only time you would need ID for DME would be if you didn't have your bus vouchers with you. You would have to go to the checkin counter, give them your ID (as the lead person on the reservation) and they would then print out vouchers for each person in your group.
If you have your vouchers in hand, you won't need any ID.

For your departure from WDW...if you are using RAC to check your bags and get your boarding passes issued, then you will have to show ID. A parent can show their ID and then get everyone's boarding passes issues and bags checked...at least the immediate family.

So we had to shuffle around the rooms, so I was hoping to have my in-laws check into our original room but was worried by DMIL would not be able to board ME under my name but if they aren't checking for ID, she should be able to board with my tickets?

For arrival into Orlando and going to your resort:

Is each person named on the reservation for the room s/he is going to stay in as of his/her arrival date?

Did you make advance Magical Express reservations for each person matching his/her arrival date and room?

If you are unable to reach the owner of the points you rented, check back with the resort and also with Magical Express in the 5 to 2 day in advance time frame. Somewhere in this time period the room reservations are passed off to a different department which might be able to handle last minute changes. Note that at the DME welcoming area at the airport they may re-verify room reservation information.

If you already have the DME vouchers a roving pre-welcoming CM at the welcoming area may direct you to the bus lines without your having to go to the counter.

How can I answer this without causing more confusions? I received all our ME vouchers and luggage tags with flight information attached to them but some of the names have switched rooms. The one I am asking about is, our original room (the one the DVC member went MIA) was under my name and my husband's name. Luckily my DH and DFiL have the same name, so when I booked the ME for this room I used my in-laws flight information. So I am hoping that my DFiL can check in to our original room since he has the same name as my DH. The ME vouchers sent to us list my in-laws' flight numbers but I was unable to change my name to DMiL name. The voucher reads as my name but has my in-laws flight numer attached to it. Will they let my DMiL board ME at the airport with a voucher in my name? I am not worried about my DFiL because he is using my DH voucher and they have the same name.

I think your complicating things and can probably just use your own DME vouchers. The DME ride isn't tied into your flight or room numbers so as long as you have a WDW resort reservation on the day you want to use DME you will be transported to that resort.

So if I understand your situation correctly- I think - you can just use your own vouchers.

The only issue may be with the luggage delivery if you use the yellow tags. The bags may get switched but since you know the other party you can just correct that amoung yourselves.

And no you don't have to show ID to board DME so if you do choose to switch vouchers you should be ok.

Thank you for all the information. I am hoping it will all work out. I am going to send my in-laws mine and DH vouchers to use along with the yellow tags since I was able to add their flight information to the DME. I had to book the DME on my own since the DVC went MIA.

I do have one more question on our return, some of our group is staying at OKW but on our last day we will all be at MK. Will DME let all of our group board the bus from BLT or will those who are staying at OKW have to take a bus to OKW then get on the DME from OKW?

You're only allowed to pick up the DME bus from the resort you're staying at.

Just keep your own vouchers. There really is no need to switch them around. You are all going to the same resort. The bags will have been tagged with the yellow tags....you can have each bag tagged with the appropriate tag for the occupant of that room..so, in that case, you can give your mil your luggage tag for her bag. But, there is no reason to switch vouchers.
Your vouchers have nothing to do with your arriving flights or your resort room assignment. You can get on the bus the day after the reservation starts and then head to a completely different room just as long as it's the same resort.
The only time you would possibly want to have someone use a voucher that was in someone else's name would be if the person listed on the voucher decided to rent a car, and they gave their voucher to someone who wasn't listed on the room reservation...last minute guest or such.

I am still not sure why you would need to do that?

and no- unfortunately DME will only pick you up at the resort you are staying at.

A friend just arrived at Disney over the weekend and reported back that as long as you have vouchers you don't need to show ID. Just like you described, that is how I needed it to work for our group.

The only concern I would have is if there is a problem with the voucher or reservation that could result in having to show ID.

You mentioned a canceled reservation - that would cause me concern because it would also cancel DME. Just because you have a voucher doesn't mean it is valid, the voucher will be scanned before boarding the bus. If the voucher doesn't scan they could be sent back to the desk.

If there is time to call DME and get the correct persons names on the DME vouchers I would do this. Even if it means stopping for a few minutes at the desk to pick up the corrected vouchers.

I can't get the names changed on DME because the DVC member I purchased points through went MIA, actually declared bankruptcy. The hearing/decision is suppose to be rendered on November 7th, our trip is on November 9th. I have back up reservation at POR with seperate DME reservations. But our first choice would be the BLT reservation.

What would happen to the luggage if the BLT luggage tags were put on but we find out at DME the reservation is not valid? We could then use our POR DME vouchers but what happens to our luggage if we put the BLT tags on them?

I can't wait for November 9th to be here so I know exactly if our reservation at BLT will still exists!!!

So you won't know until you try and check in at the DVC resort if your reservation will be honored? That is if your DME vouchers scan.....

In this case I would bring both sets of DME vouchers, I would not tag my bags for delivery and instead pick them up and bring them on the bus. I would not want my bags heading to the DVC resort if you end up at POR.

Hopefully you can get clarification on the 7th and a better idea of where to ride the DME bus too - wow.

Honestly in this case I might consider a rental, even if for one day if there is a chance you will need to go to the DVC resort and then over to POR. You could then renturn the car to the Dolphin, CC center or a location in DTD.
