Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) **** PART III ****

Castaway Cay

What can I say about this day. It was cold. Not as cold as Disney World was the week before the cruise, but if you can't tell it from this picture...

How about this one...?

Still some people wanted to stand under the huge bucket of water on the brand new Pelican Plunge.

I didn't get a close look, but here's a view of the new cabanas. I'm not sure if we'll ever pay for one, but they do look interesting.

Ok, last one.

This is just a few more from around the cruise.

Chillin' in the hot tub.

You can just spot Caitlin during the kids Caroling.

We had some rough seas.

What a bunch of divas!

I believe this was the sunset we had leaving Castaway Cay. Nice way to end a cruise.

No. We will be joining the Wonder in Alaska this summer and then the Fantasy next summer in the Western Caribbean.

Hello Friends! :wave2:

Just moved our dummy date booked on board from 12/3/11 on the Magic to 11/17/12 of the Fantasy! :woohoo: Are there any other Fantasy Thanksgiving Turkeys out there?!? We got a 6B (a.k.a. the cheapest verandah cat) at the absolute back of the ship on Deck 6. I guess being 622 days out is the reason the price was less than expected for a holiday cruise. Anyhoo -- not complaining!

Happy 2011, Happy St. Patty's Day, and Happy Spring! :grouphug:

Caryn :goodvibes

Glad I posted. Realized I left our cruise out of my siggie. :scared1:
Just to mention, looks like the Eastern Caribbean cruises for the Fantasy in Nov and Dec of 2012 will have for ports of call: San Juan, St. Thomas, and Castaway Cay. :flower3:

We made the pictures!

Hey you guys gonna do the :santa:pirate: in 2011?

Hi everybody! I thought this forum had died out, but came over to check just in case. Joann - great pictures!! Thanks so much for posting them! I didn't see myself, but saw many other Disboard friends, and it brought back so many happy memories. We have watched our photo slideshow endlessly, so it is nice to have some new views. I agree that Christmas was just not Christmas onboard. Not sure I'd do Christmas again other than the kids are all out of school. Once was fun, though.

Joann, your Mom sent me a cross-stitch bookmark last week - I love it! She is so sweet.

Is everyone still running after our CC5k? I have slacked off a bit but need to get back into it.

Going on the Dream for 3 days in early September. However must confess that we booked a 4 day from Tampa to Cozumel on a competitor (Royal Carribean) for my husband's 50th. Have never tried a non-DCL ship, so we have low expections. But with the price ($239 each for a balcony room! - military discount) we decided to give it a try. Will not take the kids, so don't have to worry as much about type of people on board. But I know it won't be the same as our great Christmas Cruise group!

Thanks for brightening my day with these happy memories...

Liz :goodvibes

Just got word today that I won a 4 day cruise on the Dream: tips, airfare, transportation to port and cruise for 4. So, looks like we'll be trying the Dream, after all!!

Sure will miss my Christmas buddies, tho....

Congrats on winning the cruise!! So happy for you!! We'll be on the Dream in July. We had a BLAST on this cruise.. I would have to agree though. Christmas just wasn't Christmas..Even our kids were saying it didn't feel like it. Anyways...glad to see everyone is still popping on here from time to time..I'll check back in more often then!

Hello All!

Congratulations again, miamatel on the Dream cruise! It is good to know these contests really do happen.

Is there anyone here cruising soon? I need a dummy date booked with all the obc perks. I am so hoping DCL will be sailing out of Galveston...rumors but maybe Christmas 2012. Please PM me if you can help out. We did book for Spring Break 2011, but I do not want to move it.

We did a blog while on board in December, please check it out.

Thank you,

Is it sad that I have returned to the disboards to relive our vacation?:goodvibes Spring is late in getting to us here in the midwest, & I am dreaming of islands!
Thanks for posting pics. I am looking at the great prices for the Magic in the Med, & it is tempting. Maybe next year.:thumbsup2

Thank you,

Jill, I have my fingers, toes and anything else crossed that Galveston gets DCL, but am not over hopeful - I keep hearing NY or Hawaii are the first choices - although Hawaii would be a challenge since the ship has to leave the US on voyages - something I learned when trying to talk someone there into just shuttling from Galveston to FL! I do hope they choose to pay attention to the fans in the middle! I would keep the Spring Break in 2011 - ships have been filling up fast this year! Have fun on your trip!

Congrats Mel!
You will love the Dream. The nightlife is awesome! The boat is spectacular! You'll have a great time, you deserve it!

We're sailing in July...Probably to far away to help though.

I finally changed my avatar to designer travels, I was jgura. (I set that up incorrectly) Now I'm "earning my ears"

We had to move our Spring Break cruise to book the 2012 cruise. I may want you to book one for me if you are booking too. I believe you have fam in SA, I'm sure they are happy about Galveston.

We booked Christmas 2012 out of Galveston? Anyone joining us???

Jill

We're already on the Fantasy in 2012 going to those ports, so not really that excited about Galveston. But if the prices are reasonable, we may consider it when we are visiting some time. My folks won't sail Disney without us, so I don't think they've really noticed. :confused3

Loved the Christmas cruise, but missed the Christmas spirit at home, so we'll be saving our Disney magic time for other times of the year in the future.

Just wanted to pop in here and say how I have continued to be blessed by this cruise.

I live 7 miles from Smithville, MS where an EF-5 tornado came thru and destroyed the town of 900. My mom lives and works there but still has her life and home. Friends of mine weren't so lucky. A sweet, sweet friend from this cruise has sent one of my friends that lost everything a box of things. A gesture that touched me--and was made all the more special by having only known her for 11 days on a boat.

Wendy, Melissa, Michelle, Caryn, Pam, Joann.....people I still talk to and make plans with--all because we decided to go on this cruise.

I have never experienced anything like this before and may never again. I am forever changed and grateful for the bonds formed and friendships made. And I will be forever loyal to DCL for providing the backdrop for this incredible gift.

Just decided to pop over here to see if anyone has posted and it was great to see that so many of you are keeping in touch!

Anyone traveling on the Fantasy next year? We are booked for spring break and can't wait!

The cruise last December was our 2nd Christmas cruise (we sailed Christmas 2009 also) - we loved it but really missed parts of being home for the holidays, so we've decided not to travel over Christmas again for awhile. We had also sailed DCL spring break 2009 and really enjoyed it so we are excited to go at that time again next year on the Fantasy. I was thrilled when the inaugural sailing was moved so that we could go on a "regular" sailing. I'd love to do an inaugural cruise but didn't feel we could commit non-refundable deposits that far out.
