Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

Great Idea!

My husband and I are both 37 with our gorgeous almost 4 year old DD Lauren.
We are from Canada, my DH in oil and gas and I am a recruiter.

This is our first ever cruise, we weren't really into "Disney", but we have a relative who worked on the Tangled movie and got us in for this cruise.

You will recognize DD, because for the last year she takes her stuffed Bolt dog everywhere with her. Thank goodness Bolt is a Disney movie!;)

Most looking forward to laying by the pool and not having to think!!! (And you will most likely find us with a tropical drink in hand)

We will dress up, but not crazy prom night dress up :thumbsup2

On a happier note ...........:dance3: :dancer: :dance3: :dancer: :dance3: :dancer: :dance3: :dancer: :dance3: The docs are here !!!

Now on to the introductions:

I'm Kitster aka Vicki - age: well over 21 but well under 121
I was born to Coast Guard parents in an Army hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico in the year 19** (yeah right, I'm not going to tell you my age that way either :lmao: )
I have lived in the following places at one time or another: San Juan, Puerto Rico; Hayward, CA; Kodiak, AK; St Petersburg, FL; Miami, FL; Orlando, FL; Clarksville, TN; Augusta, GA; Holland, MI; Huntington Beach, CA. You might say I have a bit of wanderlust in my veins and you wouldn't be far off. As near as I can tell, the only state I haven't set foot in is Hawaii. That will change when Aulani opens.
This will be Disney cruise number 7 for DH and me. Number 6 ends the day number 7 begins :-) Shooting for Platinum status before we do the M/V of the Fantasy in April 2012 :woohoo:
Hubby and I met in a Babylon 5 chatroom almost 12 years ago. We've been together for 10 years and will be celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary on Castaway Cay, Dec. 28th.
I have a BS in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry and my current area of expertise is as a Pharmacy Technician specializing in compounding prescription medications. Photography is my passion and when you see me onboard ship, I will seldom be without my camera(s). My favorite current TV shows are House, NCIS (original and LA), Law & Order:SVU, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, In Plain Sight. My favorite TV shows of years past are M.A.S.H., Babylon 5, CSI (pre-Lawrence Fishburn...haven't watch it since Gil left), Dr Who, Coupling (the British version....the US version SUCKED).

My dear hubby is Corwin17 aka Stephen - age: increasing by 1 year on Castaway Cay, Dec. 17th :)
He was born and raised in SoCal and never traveled much for pleasure until he met his dear, wonderful future wife ( :rolleyes1 ). He has a B.S. and M.S. in Physics and is currently traveling for business, again.

The rest of his history will have to wait 'til he logs in, cause if I tell everything I know about him, he's gonna KILL ME

Wow! About us, great idea....

I'm 41 (Lisa) and DH (Markus) is 52. DD's (3) are 23, 16, & 12. Oldest won't be joining us. I'm orginally from Seattle but live just outside if Philadelphia in NJ. DH and I met at work and fell in love and married 3 months later (sh! the kids and my mom don't know!). Work has moved us to NJ where we have lived for the past 14 years so I guess its home now!

I'm on the shy side (until I've had a drink or two :rotfl2:) but kehonuamemano's post made me step up and post.:) I have 2 useless degrees (BA in Liberal Arts and MLS in Library and Information Science) and am a SAHM but looking for work (paid work, not more laundry). Hubby works in a hospital. This is our 3rd disney cruise which we have almost cancelled a zillion times but is now past the cancellation date so now I know for sure we are going. We will dress for formal night, pirate night depends on what fits both me and what fits in the suitcase. I've currently started running regularly (only so much banana bread a girl can bake) - I'm slow (my teenager calls me a penguin) and I've just hit being able to run a mile (this is a BIG deal for me as I haven't run since gym class - 20 some years ago.) I enjoy Facebook, reading, cooking and have entire plastic bins of scrapbook stuff that I will learn to do "someday". We have 2 cats, a tadpole, and 2 dogs - our old lady, Sadie, a 13 yo yellow lab, who joined our family 5 years ago after hurricane Katrina and Molly our other lab who is quite a handful. Anyway - enough about us - thanks for the opportunity to share

Great to meet you!

I am 50 have BS in Liberal Arts and an MBA and work as a commercial real estate appraiser. Retired from the USMCR after 28 years of service, including about 7 years of active duty, but don't collect a pension until age 60.
My DW will turn 48 on the cruise and is a Mayflower Descendant. Met her in business school; smartest girl in the class.
That makes DS16, DS15 and DD13 Mayflower Descendants, not to mention Sons of Confederate Veterans, and they have a bonifide Irish grandmother.
We have three rescued pets :dog::dogdance::ccat: and I am not even a pet person, in fact, I am allergic to them.
I grew up in central Florida and am sort of a beach bum and dig surfing, fishing, camping, etc.
My favorite part of the cruise is boarding and the first day, and leaving all my day-to-day concerns on the pier.
One of my first jobs was as a seasonal worker at Tomorrowland Terrace (circa 1978) at WDW. Also used to be SCUBA instructor.
Am fully Harry Potter qualified (all books and films).
I will pack for the cruise on the night before.
I bring a little flask poolside for spiking my DOTD to get it just right.
pirate:

OK...This one I have to respond to:
1. Kudos on the rescue pets! :)

2. Let's hear it for packing the night before!!!! I do a little organizing at a time, but final pack is not until the night before. (Only time that became a problem was before our Aug 7 med cruise, when we had to head to Chicago early because Travelocity.......well,...that's a long story......remind me to tell you ALL about it in December! :rotfl: )

3. I LOVE the DOTD Club pix, but I am with you there, brother....they generally need a bit of support! The flask is a GREAT idea! :woohoo:

Can't wait to meet you all!
Penny

I have read on the Forum that DCL no longer provides bandanas on Pirate night. I can't confirm this, maybe someone that has been on a recent cruise can confirm/deny this. I still have mine from '08, so I was surprised to read that they no longer give them out at dinner.:confused3

I know they still had them on Aug 7th Med cruise (Magic)....if it changed, it has been since then. We probably have enough stockpiled to provide them for 1/2 the cruise by now......maybe we should add them to the overstuffed suitcases? :rotfl::rotfl2:

Or, DH suggested I keep them all and fashion a dress out of them???? If only I knew how to sew..... :rolleyes1

Me - 47, DD's 21 & 14.
Other member of our family is a cockapoo named Stitch.
I was born in FL but have lived in Las Vegas, SoCal, VA, NC, TX, and now IA. I plan to move back to FL once DD graduates in 2014.
We own DVC - BWV & SSR.
I have an Accounting degree but I'm a SAHM. I really want to become a Travel Agent.
I love to travel and plan trips - anytime I can travel is a good time, but my three favorite trips are: 2004 Christmas Cruise, 2007 Med Cruise, with London and Paris tacked on, and taking my parents to Scotland
I have stayed in both the Walt and Roy Suites(wish I had one for this cruise)
I love to watch college and pro football and I am a HUGE NASCAR fan!

And...

We are doing the Doc Dance!:dance3::cheer2:party:

I think the getting to know everyone was a great idea!!!! :thumbsup2

Lets see..... I am 28 years old...will turn 29 on the cruise... and DH is 30. I apparently have taken over posting on the boards even though he was the one who initially signed up. :rotfl2: I am from Canada and DH is from Kentucky. We met 7 years ago in Charleston,SC while I was finishing off Nursing School and he was a Fireman in the Air Force at the time. We moved to Panama City, Florida almost 5 yrs ago. Our daughter is 3 yrs old and it was shortly after she was born that I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer. I started treatment and along the way two years later our son came along very unexpected at a time when we didn't even think it was possible. He is now 10 mths old and we are happy to report I am cancer free! :cheer2::cheer2: My husband is now a civillian as we were faced with many decisions. I am currently doing my clinical hours to get Mid-Wife Certification and I work for a great OB practice!

We are a pretty easy going bunch. :cool1: This is our first Disney Cruise and hopefully will be the first of many! We have done the parks before but plan on doing the MVMCP this year on the 16th! :dance3: We are mostly a Gluten Free family since the kids and I do have Celiac's Disease. It has its challenges but thankfully Disney was very helpful with the food they offer.

We are DEFINITELY NOT anywhere near packed...I probably should start working on that since we have a ton of FEs to pack too. I heard of families just travelling with carry ons but how the heck they manage to do it beats me:confused3.

Christie,Jarod,Tsyenna & Brady:yay:

Hi Christie,

Are you still in Panama City? DD's and I will be at our condo in Panama City Beach next week. Maybe we can get together for dinner or you can bring the kids and come over for a drink.

Youngest DD and I will get in late Saturday and my oldest will fly in on Tuesday. I know it's Thanksgiving week but let me know if you want to try to get together.

Well, it sure didn't take long for the cease and desist note to get to me from Cafe Press. It seems the graphics I posted violate their copyright policy (which is strange since I 'borrowed' the graphics from the web ... :rotfl: ) Anyway, the DOTD shop has been closed. Anyone still wanting to order DOTD t-shirts will have to create their own shirt on an individual basis.

Here are the links to both the Princess and Prince graphics:

Princess DOTD Large Graphic

Princes DOTD Large Graphic

Either of these should be fine for making t-shirts and stuff without further editing .
Did you see Milliepie had the same graphic but Christmasified?? I will have to try and find it again!

My favorite TV shows of years past are M.A.S.H., Babylon 5, CSI (pre-Lawrence Fishburn...haven't watch it since Gil left), Dr Who, Coupling (the British version....the US version SUCKED).
I agree! I loved CSI but haven't watched since Gil left either :sad2:

I am 42, DH 43, DD 17, DS 15, DS 12, & DD turning 11 in Dec.
I was born in Honolulu, HI, I have lived in OR, Wa, CA, TX & CT.
DH was born in CA, has lived in CA, NY, VA, Japan, WA, TX & CT
I am not packed yet. But have a suitcase in the garage that I have been 'hiding' things in.
We are a formal dress up family.
I love reading, traveling, photography and just started scrapbooking.
My favorite part of the Disney Cruise is: Drink of the day, Castaway Cay, and not having to cook or clean for the whole cruise!
My DH is an Texas Aggie--he is an aerospace engineer. I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education, right now I am a SAHM.
When the kids leave home we want to cruise around the world!
Best trip with DCL was Transatlantic Crossing.

DOC DANCE!!! :cool1::banana::woohoo::dance3::cheer2:

Meemous and I got our Docs today!!! WOOHOO!!! Very nice...that much closer to Dec. 18!!!

This may seem like a dumb question but we should all be receiving a cruise document packet...right? We really have no idea what we are doing! LOL :confused3

Is that a thumbs up for NASCAR John? Only one more race this season then I go into NASCAR withdrawal and can watch the NFL on Sundays.:happytv:

Sunday's race should be a good one! I'm getting a little tired of Jimmie Johnson so I'm rooting for Denny Hamlin in this one.

Yes, everyone should be receiving their cruise documents. It could vary by a couple of days and if you booked through a TA, it might go to them first depending on the TA.

Hello,

This is our 8th DCL cruise. My DH and I have six wonderful children (ages 27 to 9, five girls and one boy) and three grandchildren (2 boys and a little girl). We became addicted to cruising after going on our "Once in a Life Time Disney Cruise" in 2005.

We renewed our vows for our 25th anniversary on the Disney Magic in December 2006. DCL sure knows how to make Dreams Come True and how to put on a special occasion. The cake, flowers, music, atmosphere, photographer, etc. were absolutely wonderful.

We love everything Disney - parks and cruise. We have only been on the Disney Magic but hope to try some of the other ships sometime. We love the stage shows on the Disney Magic and look forward to seeing what the other ships have to offer.

I am the Vice-President, Finance and Resources at our local university college. After an accident four and a half years ago, my DH became a stay-at-home Dad for our three younger girls and now looks after our granddaughter during the day while her Mom is at university studying to become a nurse. DH is also taking some accounting and computer courses.

Our little girls (ages 9, 12 and 14) are into dancing, piano, fiddling, sports, cheerleadering, etc. They are very busy girls with all of their activities.

We have one rabbit, two dogs, three cats and four degus.

In 2005 all of our children came on the cruise but this time it will just be my DH, three younger girls and myself. We will be celebrating the anniversary of our vow renewal on December 18.

Our best DCL cruises were the Panama Canal cruise in May 2008 and the Northern European Cruise this past July 2010.

We will be spending a couple days at the parks prior to our cruise and will be going to the MVMCP on December 16 and 17. We really enjoy the Christmas party.

We are looking forward to the Secret Mickey Gift Exchange as well as the ornament exchange. See Ya Real Soon.

I'm Aaron (37), DW is Joann (3princessMommy), we have three DDs (you've probably heard this before.)

I was born in St Louis but moved to Vienna, VA, when I was less than a year old. That's just outside Washington, DC. My parents are still in the house I grew up in. We now own a house nearby in Lorton, VA.

I graduated from University of Virginia in 1995. I've never had any use for my Economics degree.

Met Joann on a blind date.

Except for that first year, I never lived outside of Virginia until we moved to Kazakhstan.

I currently work in our US Embassy as the Information Management Officer in charge of all our communications and computers. Next year I'll be teaching the job to new hires back in Virginia.

Joann's says her best vacation was to Bukhara, but I'm picking Thailand. Five days on Koh Samui for the beaches, five days on Phuket for more beaches, and 3 days in Bangkok for the shopping.

I'm a big Redskins fan. I woke up at 5am this morning to watch the "Monday Night" game against the Eagles. After 15 minutes my team was down 35-0. It didn't get much better after that.

My family is related by marriage to Charles Lindbergh.

Went to WDW a few times as a kid and loved it. But after our first Disney visit with my own kids (Disneyland Paris in 2007) I truly became addicted. The DIS has been a big contribution to that addiction. Now we own DVC at the Grand Californian, so really need to make our first trip to Anaheim soon.

The holiday cruise Roll Call is officially over 100.
