Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

We're doing the MV on the Dream and I really wish we weren't now. It's turning into a big pain in the rear. There are so many things set aside for "VIPs" that no one can get Palo or Remy for dining and excursions/CC things are becoming VERY limited.:sad2: We have friends who are Platinum that are going also and they were blocked out of everything except the one Palo they get with their Platinum status (and it's on the first night!) Not anything near worth the premuim price and no-cancellation policy Disney had for it.

Welcome back and thanks for the information on the MV. I am kind of glad we skipped that one now. I know you guys will have a great time and I can't wait to check out the ship in August.

Hello Jill - I am pulling for the Texans as well. Bob's cousin's son is very good friends with C.J., add that to my hating the Yankees -- Go TEXANS!

Caryn
(Go Sox, next year --->)

Hey...hey...How bout them Yankees!!! Came back and won in Yankee fashion last night!! YEA!! I say the Yanks will make it to the WS again!!

*hides in his corner to ride out storm of Yankee haters*

:rotfl:I have to cheer for the Rangers! I worked less than a mile from the stadium for several years and they really deserve a chance to go all the way - GO RANGERS :cool1:

Well, I finally SOLD my house and finished signing the paperwork today! I am very thankful to have that out of the way. One less stressor to contend with.

I've read that in Barbados and Guadalupe that the residents there don't take kindly to Americans and/or tourists in general and can be quite rude, so to date I haven't scheduled any excursions for those two ports.

Does anyone have any insight or experiences to relate that are favorable?

I'm on the fence about these locations.

~Lorrie
I can't believe people are saying that about the residents of Barbados. The one time we've been there, everyone was wonderfully friendly. It was one of the absolute BEST shore excursions we've ever done and we can't wait for a repeat. I can believe people on Guadeloupe and Martinique might be a bit 'stand-offish', especially if you don't speak French.

Hey All! We are back from a lovely little getaway. :cutie:

Rick's been keeping up (somewhat) but I need to go back and get caught up on my threads! (Oh dear, I just sounded like my late Grandma talking about her "stories")

Water update!!!!!- We asked 2 different porters (one getting on and another getting off the boat) and both said yes, you can still luggage tag a flat of water and they'll take it. But I'll add the disclaimer- with all of Disney please keep in mind that this could change from day to day and person to person!:rotfl2:

Hope this finds you all well and happy!

Lori pirate:

Welcome Back Lori and Rick!!

Thanx for the water info. In our experience, when you treat the porters well, you won't have a problem. We usually bring 1 case of water for each of our rooms and our bags are always at our doors before we are.

And, I saw you rebooked again. I think now that you are FL residents, you're going to give Barb and Tony a run for their title! Have fun..

I will have to agree with you on that one, Rangers deserve to go all the way.. Yankees win it too much, honestly, was happy they won last year cause it was first time in 10 years, but very happy when new teams win. IMO- could care less who makes it to and wins the WS this year. Would be great to see a Rangers/Giants WS since Yanks and Phils made it last year.

Married me a Red Sox fan and after hearing all the stories from my Dad who went to Williams College with Old Georgie-Boy, I have absolutely no love for the Yankees. :headache:

See y'all tomorrow when it is one day closer to our trip ---> :cloud9:

I'll be rooting for the Rangers tomorrow from across the street from the game while I sit in a rehearsal dinner :rolleyes1
My husband is going to the game as soon as he can get there. I grew up in Arlington w/ the Rangers (my dad works there) so I would love to see them win. It was painful to watch them lose Wed.

Good news on the water. I hope they like my roll on cooler I bought for the trip. :rotfl:

I can't believe it is getting so close, time to start the crash diet!

I love how you all are shipping boxes...now how will you get it all home??

Anyone staying at the Hyatt Cypress closer to Disney?

DISBOARDS WAS LOCKED UP, SOME HOW THIS DOUBLED, SORRY

I agree - I 've been to Barbados and the people were lovely - very British in their courtly manners. I am have read that the residents of Martinique and Guadaloupe, being French, act more like the French in Paris - which means you had better at least try to speak French, and not just speak English REAL LOUD! Parisians aren't noted for their friendliness!

So after reading the posts on ths forum, I am starting to have some irrational fears, I picture that this cruise experience is going to be like a Thanksgiving Day Sale on acid!

People everywhere, not being able to find a deck chair, families rushing to order room service and the cheese platter!

My kid crying and clinging to my pant legs, my husband whining that I packed too many shoes as he carries my luggage.

Getting lost on one of the islands and not getting on the boat, or worse yet missing something fun!

Ok, I know totally not going to be the case, but it felt good to vent.pirate:

Going to eat some chocolate now....

Dont' fret! What DCL does best is take away all the hassle so that you have a stress-free trip. Everything is taken care of so you don't have to worry. I think you can board the ship with zero plans and have a fabulous time - that is what we did on cruise 1. If you miss something fun, you can always do it next time! And there is no way to do everything on 1 cruise, so why even try! Just enjoy....

Yeah. On our first 3-night Magic cruise, we had a great time and it was about two days into the trip before we figured out that there was a Personal Navigator...:upsidedow

LOL yeah. We'll be back onboard 11/7. :rolleyes1

We carried the expense of two places (here and New Orleans) till last month and with the added $$$ no longer there we had enough to add the Nov trip. But I used that all summer for motivation for packing and moving and purging and cleaning. "You know, once we don't have this place and the bills we could afford to cruise every month.":cutie: Yes, living in the French Quarter is THAT expensive!

But I am disappointed that we're too late to do the fish extender on that one.:sad2:

I can try to do these for everyone... if someone can send me a clean copy of the clip art on page one that I can size and I can get everyone's "real names" versus DIS names.... no $1.00 required, LOL

:)

Dangy...that is great that you are willing to do this. We would love them.

Pamela
Elizabeth

Thanks for doing this.

56 = 8 weeks... til Vaca

The weather is gonna be crappy this weekend in STL :sad2:

Last football game for DS... :thumbsup2

Gotta pack for WDW which is next week... ;)

C'mon, don't they know who you are and that you give great FE gifts?!! Have ANOTHER great trip!!

Thanks to all who responded on information regarding Barbados. I am feeling a bit better about scheduling an excursion there now. I'm glad to hear of your experiences there.

Looks like Mike has a new avatar picture. What is that? A camper? RV? Bus?

As I type this, Joann is somewhere over the Saharah Desert. She'll land in Entebbe in about 2 and a half hours.

(If the name Entebbe saounds familiar, think back to 1976. An Air France flight that originated in Tel Aviv, and routed through Athens to Paris, was hijacked by Palestinian terrorists and taken to Entebbe airport in Uganda. Idi Amin was in power and welcomed the Palestinians. The situation ended on July 4, when Israeli commandos flew in and stormed the airport to free the Israeli hostages. There were several movies about it in the late 70s.)

Tomorrow is DD9's birthday party followed by a sleepover. Thanks heavens Joann will be back in time for that one!
