When I do the Philharmagic I have to close my eyes or look away when Jasmine flies on the carpet and when they fly on top of Big Ben. I peek a little but get a major case of the I need to hold on to something. I would love to do Soarin but if I can't handle that I don't think being up in the air and flying would be good for me. So is Soarin similair to the scenes in MP?

I just had this discussion with my sister last night when we were trying to decide if my DH could do Soarin' or not. The Magic Carpet ride gives me a bit of a queasy feeling and Soarin' doesn't bother me at all. My sister was surprised to hear that the carpet ride did bother me a bit since I ride everything.

If I had motion sickness, I would not ride Soarin'. You do feel like you are flying; some points of the ride more than others. My friend had a problem with Timekeeper years ago and spent the rest of the day sick. As much as I love Soarin', I wouldn't ruin my day over it.

You could of course close your eyes if you felt sick. Your seat isn't moving at all.

Soarin' doesn't bother me at all....at first. It starts off slow and then picks up a little more speed towards the end and that's when I get the queasy feeling. I think the wind blowing and the smell effects help alot with not feeling sick. I get very motion sick on Body Wars, Star Tours, Mission Space, and RnR (but no other rollercoaster has ever bothered me, indoor or outdoor). The good thing is Soarin' doesn't last very long so it either leaves you feeling like "Man, I wish it was longer!" or "I'm so glad it's over and wasn't longer!". I also took Dramamine an hour or so before going on. :teeth:

I understand that 'need to hold onto' something feeling. I got a major case of it sitting top row, center on Soarin'. Second ride, bottom row, I was better. I also found that tucking my feet a bit into the netting underneath made me feel more secure. Of course I was gripping the armrests tightly both times... :woohoo:

I get bad motion sickness from Star Tours, Body Wars, and especially Mission Space. I *love* Rock N Rollercoaster (probably favorite ride at all of WDW), but it can bother me a little (as can other roller coasters with loops).

However, Soarin' doesn't bother me at all. Philharmagic doesn't either.
