With 2000 people in the building, it would not be safe for the people on the ground, rescuers, or the people in the air to haul in that large of a ladder. The best thing is if everyone would exit so they could safely start a rescue, instead of everyone trying to video and take pics of the accident. I am sure it is scary, but I am also sure it is something that has been practiced for just such an emergency. The fact that people stood there taking pics while being asked to leave so they could get a rescue crew in just amazes me.They need to have a ladder on set that can be raised up immediately, to get them down. It is VERY high up there, the last time we saw the performance we sat in the balcony, and it is high. I am very glad no one was hurt!!!

I totally agree with you! Taking pics. and vids. when you are supposed to leave, to ensure everyone's safety, is just plain nuts. You are right, a ladder of that size would be huge, and people would need to be cleared. Good point!
