Magic Bands?

True this year as well. But shockingly there were no Aulani-specific ones. It's a rare case of Disney leaving what I have to think would be significant money on the table.
They made three (I think) prior to COVID that never saw the light of day.

There was a blue Duffy & Friends, a red surfer Mickey, and a light blue Stitch.

Now they're on resale sites for hundreds of dollars.

Does everyone need to have one or can just one person have one? (for DLR use)
If you want to use it for Fast Pass/Lighting Lane functionality (aka tap'n at Lighting Lane entrances), each person needs to have one. You can't put Lighting Lanes for multiple people on one MB.

It sounds like you were using a MB plus, is that right? I thought I was told that those were not water proof, but it sounds like that might not be the case? That would be fantastic if I could wear my MB+ in the pools, etc.!

Or were you using the "old style" magic bands, and I misinterpreted?
The new ones, MB+. So far they still work and were in the water a lot.

Are we talking different uses, or different resorts or…?
For getting into rooms, paying for things etc. Sorry I didn't even think about FP LL since its seems to always be changing, last time I was there was very different than how it is now.

Different uses. I was only referring to LL functionality.

To be clear, at DLR, you can ONLY do the following with MB+:
-Park entry
-Lighting Lane, DAS, and Rider Switch redemption
-PhotoPass
-Interactive Experiences

You cannot do the following at DLR with MB+ (or any other version of MB) like you can at WDW:
-Cannot make purchases
-Cannot open hotel rooms

Also, only MB+ will work at DLR. (Original MB and MB2 will not work at DLR).

Well thats a bummer. I would've tried and tried and got mad when my room wouldn't open.
Sorry @Chili327 I was in full Aulani mode when I answered your question.

Indeed. Hopefully they add the hotel room entry and purchase functionality to DLR at some point.

It's so convenient at Aulani/WDW. Dangerously convenient with the purchases part. lol.

Good to know.!

No worries, i knew DLR was different, so just trying to see if I should talk friends into buying bands or not, sounds like they wont really need them until we go to WDW next year. :)

Yea, I'm actually surprised they didn't add them to VDH, since they were installing all new doors.

Me stopping by to pay off my charge to room bill from the band.. that will be $1971.00 🥴

Yep, that is the point I love having a gift card ready to go!!
My husband wasn't as excited as me when I got home and did the math and told him look that 1900 was actually 1600! He's not fan of going to random stores to stock up on GC's lol

I used my old WDW MBs recently at Aulani. It worked most of the time, but it was spotty in the parking garage, and I had to go to the front desk to get them working at Aulani
