Magic Bands?

Since I pre-ordered mine and my son's on the site, they are already attached to our tickets, right? We don't need to do anything else except charge them?
These are already to go for WDW. To use them at DLR, you have to link them to the Disneyland mobile app.

My husband's...we'll need to link it to his ticket once it arrives. Is that it?
His will need to be linked to his profile in the MDE mobile app for use at WDW and the Disneyland mobile app for use DLR.

I'm excited to give these a try in January. We decided to go with MB+ so we can use them during our Disneyland trip next June (unless we absolutely hate them, I guess.) I picked the Orange Bird one for myself and I picked MMRR for my son since he LOVED it on our last DLR trip and he often watches the video of it on youtube. My husband went with the Haunted Mansion one that was on sale at shopdisney so it ended up costing the same as the ones I pre-ordered.

You will also have to update the band internal software before it can be used for interactive features and that requires the band to be charged. The app will guide you through the process. They'll work immediately for close range features, like tickets and G+.

Is anyone else having an issue purchasing a Magic Band through MDE? I was just in there last week and I could browse them all but now I'm getting a message that "Due to your region, you will not be able to proceed with your MagicBand purchase. For assistance, please call Guest Services at (407) 939-4357.":confused3 I'm not happy about this at all!

UPDATE: After some Google searching I found out that I must be in either the Canadian or International version of the website. Turns out that was the issue and I'm on the website several times a day so how it happened is anyone's guess!

I would go with the MagicBand+. Like others have said that there is not much of a difference in the “clunkiness”. The plastic is a bit different with the magicband+ feeling a bit more rigid.
My son has a small wrist but rather than tearing off the extension part of the bands, we use a silicone magicband holder (like a rubberband). You can find them on Etsy or Amazon. This way when he gets older all of his magicbands will fit.

We use our MB to enter our room and parks.

We do use our cells to open the room initially because our bands are usually buried in our luggage. We no longer use bands to buy stuff because we like to use gift cards. Plus to get discounts I need to access the digital wallet on my cell so I can't be bothered using the band.

Since most of my clothing are sans pockets, I wear a small cross body purse and place my wrapped band on the key holder thingy because it makes my wrist sweat. I use to have a key fob but it fell off my keys at work and I've never been able to purchase another. Having a KTTW card would work for us except we usually go directly to our room, avoiding the check-in line.

Good luck with your decision.

I like having a magic band for ease of use for getting into the park, lightning lane/DAS, hotel room, payment. Just overall convenient. Hate having to whip out my phone all the time

If you want the older version of Magic Band (not plus) and you see something online in the pre-trip order option, get it. I asked at Emporium at MK, and they had none. Cast member said theme parks had not been getting them. The gift shop on the Boardwalj had a few, but they were very glittery. Your 5 year old might love it. An adult who prefers something plain, probably not so much. No regular solid colors or even a Disney theme

So...I see a pre-order one with the discount that I like and one for my son. My husband might like one from shopdisney more. If that's the case, can I just pre-order mine and my son's through MDE and then order my husband's on shopdisney and just pair it to his ticket when it arrives?
We have never used them before either. My DD was a CM and has got us in in her family pass for years and she would just hand us a paper one for the day. Last time I went down we only went one day so we just put tickets in the wallet on phone app. This time I got a magic band which arrived today. It was not charged but once it was juiced up it was simple. I opened my Disney experience and enabled blue tooth and paired them. It’s now got the same Info as my phone app. I have a future trip booked and it even has that already too. My husband has an Apple Watch and does not want to wear two devices so he’s sticking with the watch app.

The magic band + is fun to have. It lights up at different times.
Probably the coolest effect that we've noticed was getting off the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disneyland near where the beating heart bride is normally (we were there during the Nightmare before Christmas overlay)--anyway our Magic band+s lit up red and acted like they had a heartbeat. :)
