If you are staying at a disney hotel ,do you get your magic bands sent to you or do you buy them when you arrive

You do not have to buy them. Set up your MDE and go to magic bands link and customize them with color and name. They will ship them to you before you arrive. Enjoy!

Yep... each has a code you can enter in the MDE app to link it to your account/tickets/etc

But you don't need to purchase any if you don't want to (I have a bunch from previous trips).

Be sure to customize by a month before your trip. Otherwise you get grey ones.

Planning a split stay. Staying 5 nights at nondisney hotel then staying 2 nights at a Disney hotel.

I know I will be getting magic bands in the mail for the 2 days I stay at the Disney hotel, but can I still use my magic band at the Disney parks during the 5 days I’m staying at the nondisney hotel as long as I link a card to my band?

Yes. I am staying off property for our upcoming trip, but we will still be using Magic Bands. You don't get as many benefits since you don't get credit charging when you are off property, but they still count as your ticket, FP and for photopass. They are also more convienent in my case since I'll be there with my 3 minions and they are far less likely to lose a band around their wrist than a card.

If you mean linking a credit card for purchases, no you can’t do that. Can use them for your tickets, FPs, and PhotoPass
