Hi there!

We are not sailing until Feb 27, but I am SO excited already. We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge for two nights before our cruise and I got a little book in the mail with our reservation details etc..., sort of like the little booklet thing you get for your cruise. Anyways, they had a page promoting all the things you can do with your magic band - get into your room, pay for things, etc... and I was wondering if anyone knew if DCL is considering this to replace those plastic cards? My little ones loved their Magic Bands for the kids' clubs!

Best,

Brandy

I haven't read anything about it being extended to DCL. I think its just for the parks. They already spent a butt load on it.

The issue that is currently stopping DCL from using MagicBands is security in foreign ports. They still want to see the information that's on your room key (ship name, cruise dates, your name) in a printed format.

They did do a test with Magic Bands on a cruise a bit after they were released. I think they make more sense for the cruise than the parks, I'd much rather wear a bracelet than a lanyard.

I'd say an easy solution would be to issue cards, and make the bands an option for use onboard the ship. If you have one from a parks stay, or you want to purchase one onboard, then go for it. Just require the cards for swiping off the ship, and they're good to go for reentry to the port.
