Magic Bands with Room-Only Reservation

Will my magic band (from past trip) work as a room key, if I have a room-only reservation (no tickets or package because we bought APs)?

I'd assume you'll get a new MB that will be your room key. We stayed one night at BLT in March post-cruise and didn't even do the parks and got new MBs. Can you use the MBs from previous trips? I'd always heard you couldn't.

Oh I thought I wouldn't be getting a new MB? I do know that you can definitely use old MBs for FPs, so long as everything is linked in MDE. But I'm not sure about room keys.

You can just make sure you go to front desk and have them check. Some of ours worked and some didnt

Where have you heard that?

From the beginning the MBs have been intended for multiple uses; otherwise why would the batteries last 2-3 years?

I have 9, DS has 7, DH has 3, I'll have more coming. Barring glitches (which by their nature cannot be anticipated nor avoided) all have worked interchangably for door keys, charging devices (though we rarely put room charge on our account), and tickets.

You get a MB when you have a hotel reservation at Disney, whether it's a room-only or a package. And you can use them in the future.

but you can use all magic bands on your account interchangeably as long as they are activated.

I think MB is the ONLY option for opening your room door. So yes, you'll get one for a room only reservation. If you don't customize ahead of time, they will have a grey one waiting for you at check in.

There should have been a MagicBand slider with AP and year date on it. They are in plastic wrap and ours were tucked under the cardboard. I have one from 2014 and 2015 (since AP got MBs) a blue and lime green one. I know some folks have missed it and gone back and found it under the cardboard. I think some Guest Relations may have them so check when you get to the park.

We have been able to use our Annual Pass to open our resort door.

We already had MBS and upgraded at guest relations. We only got the discount cards (only 2 for the adults, even though our son got an AP as well), no new magic bands, and no sliders. We also didn't get the bumper sticker I see all around. Maybe I need to call.

You will get an AP band and each time you make a rezzie you will also get new bands unless you opt out. We've now completed the color spectrum.

Check your MDE account. I never noticed until almost 2 months after we upgraded our MYW tickets to APs that there was a part in MDE that told me I should order my 'new' MBs.

Okay, cool, just had them shipped. We really didn't need more magic bands (seems wasteful if they last 2-3 years), but I really want the sliders and my AP car sticker! Lol

You should have gotten a set of MagicBands once you activate your AP, which would be after your first visit. How did you get Discount Cards? they are usually in the box with the MagicBands. I've gotten an AP MB set twice since they started all this. You need to check your MDE account to see if you can order them now that you used your AP.

Do you mean the AP Magnet? For some reason they are not consistent for all even though we've all gotten a couple of them.

This is how we got our AP MagicBands, Discount Cards and the sliders were tucked inside the MB in the hole.
