Magic Bands, When do they start working

greetings disboards.
i know the answer is somewhere but i have not been able to find it.
we fly in around 10:30am
Can we go directly to the parks or do we need to check in first?
Will the bands be active?
We will have a rental car staying on site, will the theme park parking be free? and do we need to get the parking pass from the hotel or are the bands used for parking?

We received ours yesterday....it is my understanding your entire package is already set and ready to go.....
We are flying in, and need to have our bands ready for the ME...so it must be working then.
We arrive at the resort at 10:30 also.....planning on going straight to the parks...we've paid for passes that day, made our FP selections for that day, and have our dinning reservation for that day.....

We will return to the resort around 5pm or so, will also get a text message when our room is ready so can go straight to our room.
Only reason to to the main lobby is to get our checked carry-ons.

You might want to check with your resort, because depending on the crowd level they might have your room ready for you, just in case you have any carry ons or just want to get things organized before hitting the parks. Also with the online check in you can tell them about what time you are expecting to arrive, and I have found that this helped because our room was always ready and one time we even got there at between 11am and noon. Just a thought.

We got MBs for our trip to Saratoga Springs in late March this year. We were told to go to the registration desk at the resort and they activate it for everyone in your party at that time. So we did!

At the counter, they make you put your MB next to the reader and once it lights up the "mickey", then you're all activated!

I'm confused. Do we still need to check into our resort first to activate everything first or not? We will have MB with room key, tickets, charging, & dining plan. We plan to do online check-in ahead of time. Can someone clarify this for us?

At most resorts you have to check in at the desk to get your room assignment and your MBs will not work on your room until then. At some resorts they are testing being able to skip that if you check in on line (your room number is texted to you.). Your MB will work for everything else. If you want to use it for charging before check in, you can set that up in MDE in the online check in.

What about annual passes that are not yet activated? I have DVC PAPS and they are linked to MDE but I haven't activated them yet? Can I go straight to park after I have checked in at BWV or do I have to visit guest sevices first?

If you did not receive an invitation to do online check-in only, you have to visit the front desk to get your dining credits. You can store your luggage with Bell Services until after you're done at the parks. You will be emailed/texted with your room number when it's ready.
