Just got our Magic Bands for our trip in August and there was a little attachment with it that has DVC Mickey head -globe logo with Disney Vacation Club Member written on it. The extra piece slides on the band, Does anyone know what this is about?
Do we use this for DVC discounts instead of our DVC member card?

If I knew how to upload a pic I would.

I got mine today too...would like to know how it's supposed to go on the MB. I assume it's to keep the thing snapped together and slides over the tabs.

Some people use it as a decoration, but I agree that it should be used to help keep the tabs snapped together. It will not get you a discount; you still need your membership card and ID.

These have been much discussed since they first started sending them out back in May.

It's called a Magic Slider and it's just for decoration. You will need to show your DVC Member Card and a Photo ID to receive any available member discounts.

For anyone that missed the prior thread(s) on the DVC Magic Sliders, here's a picture of one (click to view larger image):

Here's one of the 2013 Magic Sliders on one of my MagicBands (click to view larger image):

it's just a nice little decoration for dvc members, I had fun looking for it on other peoples bands. fun picking out the dvc members.

FWIW, AP holders received them, too. I'll be wearing both in just over two weeks. :cloud9:

I love the decorations! We are in Canada so we do not get our magicbands until we check in. Does anyone know if we will get them too? We are dvc members and AP holders.

Although we have received 3 sets of Magic Bands over the past several months, with 2 more sets on the way, we have not received the DVC Member slider. :sad1:

My DH and I took a quick trip in May and although we are DVC we didn't get our slider either. We were told to just ask at the resort we were staying at for them and sure enough they gave them to us.
We have another trip in Sept booked and our magic bands wont ship out until sometime at the end of Aug.. we may get another slider idk?
Does anybody know when you get your PAP one?

The Passholder Slider is sent with the Passholder MagicBands, which you have to request separately using MDE. You probably wont see the AP MagicBand order until you have activated your pass(es).

Sliders "should" come in the box with the bands. You have to go on MDE and customize bands specifically for the PAP in order to get those sliders. These magic bands will ship soon after you customize them, since they are not linked to a resort stay.

Many folks have found their sliders have migrated down under the cardboard that holds the bands upright during shipping. Be sure to tear apart the shipping box before you throw it away. I've had two different sets hidden in this way.

There was a period of time when Disney ran out of the DVC sliders and wasn't sending them. I believe they have rectified this situation now and they are sending them out consistently.

On the other hand, this is the same company that can't seem to figure out how to stock enough little girl Elsa dresses, a full year after an extreme shortage began. And on those things they're profiting probably $55 on a $60 dress. So I'm not totally confident in their ability to keep up with demand for free little plastic bands either.

Also, For the Passholder MagicBands you will want to remove that tray that holds the MagicBands as there will be an AP Discount Card for each passholder underneath the tray.

We will also have AP's-notyet activated, but I will when I get to WDW in August. Is there anything I can do at that point to get the sliders--but more interested in the discount card???:confused3

When you active the AP's, they will issue the AP's on RFID AP Cards. These cards can be used for park admission, FP+ queue entry and discounts. Once your passes are active, the Passholder MagicBand order will appear in MDE. They don't issue the Passholder MagicBands and/or Sliders on property.

I'm a little confused as to what the pp just posted. I thought your magic band will get you into the parks instead of taking out the card everytime. We have our magic bands due to be shipped in aug for our sept trip. We have our PAP linked to each person on resv but not activated yet. Will that be done when we activate in sept and we can use our MB from that point on?

You can use any MagicBand or RFID Card assigned to you to enter the parks. Those staying off-site don't get MagicBands (except for passholders) unless they purchase them. There are some people that don't want to use MagicBands at all, so they can continue to use an RFID card.

I am Canadian too and just got back this past weekend. The DVC sliders were in the box with the bands when we picked them up at check-in

Are you sure that they don't issue the AP sliders on property? DVC members (which I am one of) have reported they got AP slider once on property..

I had to call in to order discounted Premium AP because on difficulties on confirming DVC eligibility online. I received emails showing that the AP's were already connected to magic bands on my upcoming DVC stay. Few days later I received plastic AP vouchers in the mail. Fast forward three months, I received my DVC stay magic bands with DVC sliders in the mail.

My non-activated AP's already show up in MDE so as usual whether you can get AP sliders on property is YMMV.

I tried to get my AP sliders when I was there last week (Guest relations @ DTD & MK) and was told they had to come in the mail, even if I was Canadian.

Fast forward to today when I tried to order them and they only ship to US, Puerto Rico & Virgin Islands. I sent an email to WDW to find out how I get my AP Magic Bands and sliders.
