Magic bands shipping?

I was reading somewhere that Disney is trying to phase out the bands to encourage use of the mobile device app, stating that they are increasing the app's capabilities. Anyone find the app to be just as useful in place of having to wear a band?

The MagicMobile functionality isn’t in use yet, just in testing by CMs only. Disney makes so much money selling special MBs, I truly doubt they’ll phase them out - even the official announcement on the Disney Parks Blog says MM will just be another option and that people can continue to use MBs instead.

We’re frequent DL visitors, no magic bands there. We use our app there constantly for park ticket entry, to book and redeem fast passes, scan photo pass, along with checking wait times etc. Not used to unlock rooms (yet!) I bet WDW wants to head that direction. Only flaw is it drains your phone battery!!! And you have to keep digging your phone out of your bag or pocket.

The MagicMobile just rolled out today, so time will tell how people like it. However, Disney’s official announcement says you can use whichever you want, MB or MM. It also says they’re putting out more colors and designs for MBs, which makes them $$, so I truly doubt they’re phasing them out. I have an Apple Watch, so I’m looking forward to using it in place of a MB.

Ours arrived today, 9 days prior to check-in. Took 8 days to arrive once shipped.

Has anybody had any experience with MDE saying your magic bands would be available to be picked up, but they actually ship? We just booked a trip for early May, and in MDE where you select bands it says to complete order by 4/26 to have them for pick up at check in, but when I get to the check out screen the shipping address is my home address. Do you think we would get them in time if they do ship, or does every order have a shipping address even if they get picked up at the resort?

Has anyone tried the new “slap” band magic bands? My kids are constantly playing with theirs when we’re in the park and they’re always popping off. Just wondering if anyone has tried them and found them to stay in kids’ wrists better. Thanks!

My wife is tiny and we figured out early on that we could cut off the excess portion of the bands. The grey part is actually designed to simply be pulled off if need be, and we use Bitbelts which work like a champ to keep them from coming off.

I ordered ours around the 45 day mark and it took 12 days until they shipped (which was just this past Wednesday). I did have them personalized, so that time frame makes sense. When I track them it is showing expected delivery tomorrow. So for us it was relatively quick. I was concerned when I made the order because of others’ stories but it worked out fine.

Well, after writing about how well ours worked out - the Magic Bands have been looping around the postal system for the past 3 days and now have no location or delivery date. They were 30 miles from our house when they suddenly took a wrong route. . Not Disney’s fault, but does add another layer to everything.

Well, after writing about how well ours worked out - the Magic Bands have been looping around the postal system for the past 3 days and now have no location or delivery date. They were 30 miles from our house when they suddenly took a wrong route. . Not Disney’s fault, but does add another layer to everything.

I hate the USPS with a passion. They lose my mail nonstop.
