Magic Bands now

Since everything is being pushed to the App - what can you still use your Magic Band for? Arriving in 11 days.

Get into your room, pay for goods and food, enter the parks, get pictures. And I assume use fastpasses when they come back.

2 weeks ago I used a band from 3 years ago with zero issues and did all of the above, except fast passes. Faster than using the app, in my opinion.

Mobile Order doesn't allow you to charge to your room at all, so Magic Bands are not used with Mobile Order. When you place your order, it will charge the credit/debit card you have connected to your MDE account immediately. You can enter a different card # if you want to. You can also use gift cards or Disney Visa Rewards cards. For those last two, you have to enter the card number each time - the app does not save the card number.

We got so many MB's to use. I don't need anymore and will just use the one's we got till Disney says we need to pay to use them. Them we stop going .

I still prefer using my MB, my phone dies fast enough at Disney so I keep most options turned off for battery life.

If by "getting photos" you mean getting PhotoPass photos, then absolutely no problems, as your Magic Band is scanned for those. The ride photos where you do not tap your band to something (7DMT, Pirates, HM, etc.) are a different story as those use the part of the technology that requires the internal battery. Those batteries last about 3 years on average. The batteries are not replaceable nor rechargeable.
