Magic Bands from 2013 Trip?

Hi all! I've been reading posts in various forums here for a few weeks now and thought I'd jump in. We are taking a trip this fall to WDW. We'll be staying at the Polynesian (so excited!!) and doing all the parks. We last went in Sept. of 2013 and were testers of the (at the time) new Magic Bands. We still have those bands. We are also getting new ones, but if we are using My Disney Experience, can we link the old bands if we bring them along as back-ups in case one of us loses ours? I'm assuming they can't all be linked at the same time and the plan would be to use the new ones, these would just be back-ups.

You can link as many bands as you like to your account, if there's an upper limit I haven't heard of it. Your existing bands are likely still linked anyway and would require no action for you to use them interchangeably with the new ones.

As long as your band(s) are linked to your MDE account and you have an active ticket, you can use any band you wish. Some people use only one, some people have a ton, and some people match with their outfit.

And you can use yours from 2013 just the same as a new one purchased now

Supposedly, but it has yet to be tested in practice. My understanding is the batteries only power the active RFID functionality and is used for PhotoPass pictures and such. The remaining functionality is via passive RFID and would have a longer life.

There hasn't been word to say otherwise. To anyone's knowledge the first bands debuted are still working and I would imagine when Disney has them start to die out, they'd announce a lifespan for a band.
