Magic Bands for Canadians

So WDW doesn't mail magic bands to Canadians, but I wondered how do you know if you'll be receiving them and how do you customize them before you get there? Or can you?

I was able to customize our magic bands but there is a bit of a workaround. From the Disney site where you select to customize the bands you must enter your shipping address. When you enter your Canadian address you will get an error. I thought I was out of luck but after searching around I found a post where someone called Disney and they advised to change the address to your resort address. This worked for me. I haven't changed it back but I probably should. Our magic bands will be waiting for us when we arrive at our at our resort in 45 days

You should be able to customize your magic bands if you have an upcoming resort reservation. Customizing means you pick your colour. I leave my shipping address as my Canadian address, and the bands are automatically shipped to my resort. You don't need park tickets linked in order to do this.

We did it that way on our last trip everything was fine. Our customized MB were waiting for us when we checking in. Can't wait to do it again!!!

Thanks everyone! My shipping address was listed as Texas!? But I changed it and was able to choose colours. Thanks for your help!

Well I just don't know what I did wrong. I got an error when when went to customize a few weeks back. Glad it isn't a real issue and that Disney is thinking of us Canadians

You can enter your Canadian address for your shipping address but there is a disclaimer telling you that all non-US addresses will have their bands waiting for them at their resort. We stayed at WDW the week before Christmas and picked up the bands at our resort with no issue. In fact we were told that most folks pick them up at the resort since they don't know about the customization option. This is sure to change once folks become more aware of this.

Annual Pass holders are now able to get bands as well. I was just on MDE and customized our AP set of bands and I had to input an US address for pick up. This is what was said:

"If you live outside the U.S., please be sure to provide a one-time shipping address, such as your Orlando-area hotel, at least 10 days before you need your MagicBands".

Right now you get one set of bands for each reservation. Sure seems like a huge waste of money when you can simply use your bands over again.

This was my concern as well but ours were there waiting for us!!!! Exactly how we customized them!

I would prefer to not have them shipped to my home. That's one more thing to pack and possibly forget!

We've done this a few times and not had any problem. And remember you can customize both the colour and the name printed inside the band, which helps if you are called by a shortened name or a nickname.

I am sure it has to do with Customs and duties in other countries. The bands would be considered a purchase and subject to duties when they cross the border.

That and probably the cost of shipping them internationally due to the size of the box they come in.

I doubt it. The actual value of the bands is negliegable. Maybe $1/ 50 cents. No duty to be charged for such low value. Same as a Photopass CD, technically you paid $100 for it but the value of the actual disk is like 10 cents.

I would say it's more shipping $$$. The ME tags come in a flat rate envelope. The fancy MB box would be a lot more.

They all come in one box, at least ours did, there are four of us. Our box had The Incredibles on it. Your bands will be presented in a slot with the person's name printed underneath each band. It really is a very nice box, quite sturdy.

Correct, you get them at the resort. When you customize your bands on MDE it will tell you that "If you are traveling internationally, you will receive your MagicBands at your Disney Resort hotel Front Desk." This I copied directly from the MDE website.

At the airport we were asked for our MagicBands when we checked in for ME. They wanted to scan them to check us into ME for the ride to our resort. Since we were getting them at the resort we had to dig out our ME booklet. If we had them at the airport it would have made the connection to the bus just a little bit simpler.
