Magic Bands at VGF

Since it seems this next wave of testing might be the initial rollout of magic bands, does anyone else think that magic bands will be available at VGF when it opens in October? Will VGF have its own check in desk? If so then my logic in thinking magic bands will be available there is that they wouldn't open a new resort with a system they are planning to phase out soon.

What system are they phasing out? Disney has said that use of MagicBands will be optional. If you don't want to use a MagicBand you will be issued at KTTW card at check-in.

I believe that VGF will have a check-in desk like BLT and will probably only be open from 7 AM to 10 PM.

Sorry - phasing out the KTTW card isn't correct - I'm confusing it with phasing out FP-. However, if they have their own check in desk then they have to train personnel at the desk on how to work with magic bands so why wouldn't they open with them from the beginning? I'm just speculating and hoping to be able to use them since they seem to be rolling out at many of the other resorts.

The CMs that will staff the VGF check-in desk will probably also work the GF front desk. The staff at GF would need to be trained for MyMagic+. They will not use MagicBands in the Villas if the main resort is not using them.

So far, GF has not been included in the guest tests and it's not included in the resorts that have been posted for Oct testing.

Are you thinking of RFID door locks?

All resorts now have RFID door locks and so will VGF. The KTTW cards have RFID and if you have a Magic Band you can use it in place of the KTTW card to open your room door and to make room charges.
