Magic bands and parking on arrival day

Do we need to stop by our resort before driving to the parks on arrival day if we want free parking?

We've already checked in online and have "streamlined check-in" at Pop. SIL and DN have the same question but don't want to do online check-in. We will be in separate cars.

I believe so, they give you this parking pass thing to put on your dashboard at check in that gives you free parking.

The more recent reports I have read indicate that many resorts have done away with the pass and it is now on the bands. Where you there recently? Which resort is still using the pass? I am just curious for any possible visit.

I was at All Star Music in January, we had the parking pass which gave us free parking at the parks, but to get onto the resort area we had to use our magic bands. I was also there in February at Coronado and they asked if we had a car, we didn't but since they asked I'm assuming it was to give us the parking pass.

I forgot to mention our magic bands at the gate for our resort parking didn't work until we used them to get into our room. (security said thats why they weren't working)

I was able to use my MB for parking prior to check in this past April. Stayed at BWI did online check in, drove from the Tampa area directly to AK and had no issues parking on check in day.

They did issue me a parking pass but told me it was just for parking at BWI as a guest and to use my MB for parking.

That was the only time I drove to the parks so I can't comment on if the parking pass is still sufficient to receive free parking.
