Magic Bands and AP certificates

We ordered our DVC AP Vouchers on 15 September and added them to our MagicBands when the vouchers arrived in the mail. We were able to make FP+ reservations with no issues before our Disney arrival.

However, when we stopped at Transportation and Ticket Center on 1 Nov to swap the voucher for our AP, the CM told us that our AP was already active and attached to our bands effective 15 Sep, the day we ordered the vouchers. After a few phone calls, they removed the AP with a 15 Sep expiration date, gave us our AP Cards and attached the AP to our bands with a 1 Nov expiration (the day we were exchanging the voucher). We had no issue with the bands after that and about a week later the AP date on My Disney Experience site showed the correct expiration date. The CM also said the cards are issued to get free parking if you're not staying on site. Don't have my pass with me at the moment, but I think I remember something about parking pass on the back.

Just make sure you verify your AP expiration date if you use your voucher for the magicband.

Your band is not activated until you check in and open your door with it. Your AP is not on your band until you go to a Park Will Call and have them add it.

They will also give you a hard copy of your AP. Be sure to take your band and your confirmation number with you and your DVC member ID and personal ID.

YIKES! You have to OPEN YOUR DOOR WITH IT???? That's a bummer, because we plan to check in early in the morning and then go to the parks to enjoy our FP+ selections and didn't plan to come back to t he resort until after 4:00.

We had a great deal of difficulty getting our PAP cert. linked to our MDE accounts, but after calling the help number several times and getting help at least 3 times, we finally seem to have everything in order. I must say though, I do NOT have great confidence because sometimes when I check our MDE account, it says my DH and son have been removed from on FP+ experience because they have too many. Not sure what that is all about, because DD and I have all the same FP+ ressies they have. :confused3 Finally Sunday I was able to "share" ours with DH and DS and now we all have the same FP+ ressies again. Not real confident it will work when we arrive though.

What if you don't have the confirmation number anymore for your AP renewal pass? I ordered them on the phone, linked up the passes on MDE. Will I have to show anything at Guest Relations or Will Call? Or will they already have the necessary 'proof'? Thanks.

Hmm. I was thinking I would buy 10 day hoppers and use those to make our FP+ reservations, then upgrade to APs when we are ready to come home so nothing gets messed up. If I can link the VOUCHER to the band then maybe I will try that instead.

All, I bought my DVC AP Vouchers on the phone last night. I had two transactions because they would only accept one gift card and one credit card for payment (lame).

They gave me two confirmation numbers and I linked them on DME. They worked no problem.

This morning I booked 10 days of FP+.

Ugh this is somewhat concerning. Thanks for the heads up. When I get to will call I will be sure to confirm that the expiration date matches the activation date NOT the purchase date.

This is very similar to my husband's experience getting his will call voucher converted to a real PAP upon arrival at guest relations. Seems once I linked, the voucher it became "live" and the CM took a long time to reissue it.

I have to renew my AP next week and link it, so hoping it goes smoothly. I had way too many issues during our October trip, so I need it all to go better this time.

This is concerning. Thanks for letting us know. I will be sure to check the expiration date. I linked our PAP vouchers a month or so before our trip and activation. I don't want to lose 4 or 5 weeks or on our passes.

I have had to call MDE help with this same issue, and was told it is a "known" glitch in the system. Right now, I need to call again so I can get FP+ for our last am at WDW.

HTH

DebbieB, said that was not her experience, so obviously we were given faulty info. ::yes::
