hi,
I have a few questions on the magic band.
If you're staying onsite (DVC) and have entrance tickets, do you automatically get a magic band when you arrive in the hotel? How do you customize them?

Second, how does it work with limited edition magic bands? where do you purchase them? anything special to know about them?

magic band selection and customization is done through the my disney experience (MDE) site, the bands are mail to you in advance.

limited edition bands can be purchased separately either online or at merchandise locations, selections vary, and can be linked to an MDE account either at the time of purchase or later. the only difference from the standard single color band is appearance and in some cases the sound and lighting effect when scanned during entrance and/or fast pass use.

DVC members get a free plain colored MB. Once your trip is booked and linked in your MDE, it'll pop up that you have a band able to customize.

You'll choose between about 8 plain colored bands. If you want bands with characters on them and limited editions, you'll have to buy them or create your own.

You can buy bands ahead of time through the Disney Shop App or you can buy a band when you're at Disney. Some are open ended designs and some are limited edition pieces with say a make of only 2,500. Also vary in price from about $12.95 up to about $30

When does it typically prompt you that you have a magic band to customize? I just booked DVC rental over the weekend and have that and park tickets linked to my account, but when I go to the magic band section, it just shows me what I believe is my magic band from a trip in 2015. My trip isn’t until next Feb. Is it just because my date is so far in the future?
