Magic Band Trade Off

My wife and I are taking an 8 day trip in December. One of our three children will be there for the entire trip. However the second child will only be there for the first 4 days and the third will be with us for the remaining 4. Is it possible that when the second child leaves and the third arrives they could use the second's magic band?

It's against the rules. Disney does not allow sharing 1 ticket between 2 people.

Technically no. The bands are tied to their MDE account, which in turn is tied to their ticket. And tickets are specifically listed as being non transferable. And one bands are tied to an account, they can only be deactivated, but not moved to a new account. If you are trying to avoid issues with booking the room for 5 you could add the 3rd child as a day guest when you arrive and then just buy them a magic band for their ticket.

They could share the magic band for fastpasses, but not for park entry. They use a biometric finger scan that needs to match.

Remember the MB doesn't have anything "loaded" on it, it is just a link to the individual's MDE account. If you have the third child try to use the MB, it would be linked to the first child's ticket media, and when the third child tried to enter the park, the biometric scan of the finger would not match. So no, I don't see a way around it.

Bands dont transfer. But the 3rd child can wear it for EMH purposes and resort purposes. They will need their own ticket though.

My oldest was bummed about it because he didn't get to do it. So no finger scan for kids with APs (at least when we were there in October 2014). We had to scan for adult APs. We had not received our AP magic bands yet. So my question is this: Do kids w magic bands use the finger scanner? Is it specific to ticket type (since our APs did not require it)? I'm just curious since we will be back in June for the kids first AP trip WITH magic bands. Thanks.

Children's tickets dont use the finger scan. Magic bands just read your ticket so the rule still applies, only ages 10+ use the finger scan.

Really?! Our five year old had to scan her finger every time last spring. I guess that was some unnecessary hoopla.

Kids under 10 don't have to scan their fingers but they can if they wish..just to feel like everyone else.

If she had to scan then she was using an adult ticket. 9 and under dont scan.

No. It was a child's ticket. I'm guessing they just allowed her to, but we thought it was required.
