Magic band ?'s

Do the resorts still issue the older gray magic bands if 2 people in our party don't have them and will not be traveling to Disney again? It's definitely a once in a lifetime trip.
If they don't have magic bands how would they have access to the parks, room and lightening lanes?

Sorry, no, unfortunately Disney doesn’t give out MBs anymore. Instead, at the resort front desk they can get Key to the World cards that will work for everything the MBs do that involves tapping. With the KTTW cards they can open their resort room door, enter the parks and LLs, and charge food and merchandise to the room account. The only thing the KTTW cards will not do is they won’t link long distance ride photos for rides that don’t have tap points at the end, like Seven Dwarfs.

Disney no longer gives magic bands for free and hasn't in a number of years.
With a room reservation you can choose to order magic bands on MyDisneyExperience for a cost.

You don't need a magic band.
You can get a key card that will also open your door and can be used for park entry and lightning lane etc.

I had a similar issue with my sister who joined us last trip. (Too bad she threw out her magic band from 4 years ago because she could’ve used that).

She had no MB for this trip, didn’t like the idea of using her phone and wanted to go with the KTTW card, but the card can be a pain in the butt and after a few days she decided it was worth the 5 minutes for us to set up and show her how to use the phone.

Just be aware the phone can be glitchy with the room door. My last visit, my phone only worked 1 time on the door for a 2 week stay.

I've had a bad run of the phone not wanting to open the door or only doing it every other time. If magic bands are not worth it get the key card.

It's good to have more than one method to open your door or for anything else. You never know what is NOT going to work at any time...
