Magic band reassignment

This past spring, we were going to WDW. We were taking my mother. Then Covid hit and the trip with my mother was cancelled and is not going to happen, ever... (She is ok, just refuses to travel). We ordered her a magic band but never linked it to her name/account. Can we reassign it to one of our nieces since it has never been linked to anyone? Thanks!

If it was ordered as part of a reservation, it's already linked to her and can't be reassigned. If you purchased separately from Disney Store, it's not linked to anybody and you can assign using your MDE account. Once assigned, it can't be changed

There would be nothing to reassign if you never linked it in the first place.

However if you mean you ordered it as part of a resort stay then it was already linked to her.
All you can do is call and explain the situation and ask if they will reassign.
