I am new here so my apologies if this is not the place for this or if it has been asked before - we have a family of 4 that will be visiting the Disney Parks next month. My question is - can we collectively use ONE magic band for the four of us or is it required that each of us get our own? I know the magic bands are not really a requirement, just curious if we could put all 4 of our park passes on one? Thanks in advance!

One per person.

In If you are always all together, then it's less of an issue for getting in your hotel and if you have the Dining Plan, all of the credits for your party are pooled, so you would only need one to use at restaurants. But for the park admission, you all need your own bands, because the tickets are specifically assigned to the individual. And everyone needs their own for fast passes. So you need one per person for park entry, but after that, you could put them all in one bag until you need them for fast passes.

Just as an FYI, nothing is stored on the band itself. So, not a huge deal if you lose one. It can easily be deactivated and a new one issued.
Thank you, I was just looking for convenience more than anything. I really won't have anything stored on it but my park ticket and fast pass. I appreciate all the responses!

You won't have anything stored on it at all. The band is just a device that links to your account.

As @KrazeeK120 is saying, nothing is ever stored on your band, itself. All it ever has is, more or less, an identification number. When you scan your magicband, that ID number is transmitted from your band to the terminal you scanned it at. The terminal will then transmit your number, as well as what you want to do (cash in a fastpass, charge a meal to your card, get in to a theme park, whatever) to a central computer. Then the computer, which actually stores all your entitlements, will transmit back, saying "yes" or "no".

(The above paragraph may not be exactly how it happens, but for us guests, it's close enough)

This is why if you lose a magicband, to contact guest services or a hotel lobby as soon as possible. They can go into the computer, and set any magic band to "lost." That way, if anyone finds it and tries to use it, the computer will always respond back with a "no" response. They'll also give you a card which will gave a new identification number, which is now attached to your account.

Also, in case someone finds your magic band and opens it up, trying to read the information inside, all they'll get is an ID number. They can't see what kind of ticket you bought, they can't see where you're staying, nothing. That number on the band isn't good for anything but Disney's system, and if you reported the band lost, any copies of the band will have the same aforementioned result.

I actually lost my band twice on my trip last week (don't ask). I was given a new band each time, not a card. Although, I did have the option to get a card. The CM strongly encouraged me to take a card rather than another Magic Band the second time, but I got a band and bought one of those carabiners (sp?) you can put the Mickey head puck into and clipped it to my wallet. I never lost it again after that!

Al of those activities apart from the FP would require a finger scan or PIN. So there's no danger in not reporting immediately anyway.

Unless you somehow lost the band immediately outside your onsite room and a bad guy was right there watching. Which seems very unlikely.

That might be something new. When my middle kid lost a magic band in our room (DON'T ASK!) and I went to AK to report it lost, they just gave us a card, no band. That might be a new thing.

True. I was just citing examples. But the sooner it's reported lost, the fewer headaches there will be down the road.

My son was given a new MB when he lost his in 2013. He was upset because it was boring gray.
