Magic band query

Hi all,

We booked our trip back in April so were given the option to choose free magic bands for our trip in September, which we did.

Then WDW announced that any trips booked after June would no longer receive magic bands. We then amended the dates on our trip to take advantage of an offer (but our original reservation was made before this magic band cut off date). However after we amended our booking we then lost the free magic bands but were able to choose plain colours for $5 each which was ok.

Logged in yesterday to look at upgrading our bands and this option has been removed. We no longer have any options to pay for bands at all. I have heard that the US visitors still have this option.

Is anyone able to confirm whether this is the case for those in the US please?

I feel well and truly messed around. Are they purposely trying to remove every bit of magic that comes from staying on property? I accepted I might have to pay for the bands, but now it appears that we have to go to a store, buy the band and then get them linked to our rooms, CC etc. Such a faff compared to collecting bands at the front desk on arrival and being ready to go. Sorry to rant, but this has proper wound me up. Thanks

I've just checked and for my October trip the upgraded band I bought is still there.
But so is the cancelled one for last year's non-trip

Their systems are in something of a state of flux, pretty much all the time at present, so it may be a glitch.
I would give it a couple of weeks, then check again. If it still isn't what you want to see then phone them to find out what is going on.

Which resort are you staying in? There's usually a store selling the bands right there. While you're waiting to check in go grab some and they will set them up for you at the desk. IIRC, when they were picked up at the front desk on arrival, the cast member still needed to link them to your account/set them up, they weren't ready to go.

We are staying at Yacht Club for the first part of our trip. I am still peeved that we booked our holiday when MBs were still free and according to the WDW sites we should still be getting them. Thanks

They are removing magic bands for good as we all know, but they have removed bands for reservations booked prior to COVID due to COVID reasons. They are just trying to fob me off I'm sure

I used a VPN and managed to login to the US version MDE and I have managed to choose and pay for MB to collect at the resort desk. Very happy!!! Although this should be available to us in the UK too imo
