Magic Band Message

Hey everyone! I've been staying on site at Disney for a little while now and just have a question that I'm curious about. We always get the Magic Bands and simply put our name on the inside. Does anyone have anything fun and different that they put on the inside of their bands?

Nope..I put our initials and mmyy of the trip. Although, at first DH had three that spelled out steam boat willie since it’s his favorite character.

Having the month and year is a good idea! We don't usually keep our MBs though. It would be fun to keep them if they had the date, though.

I usually put name Resort and date. So - Sue GF 2017 or whatever will fit! May just be 17 instead of 2017.

X2 on what @bumbershoot said. Your real name linked to your account is what shows up for a CM when you scan... like when you scan for a FP. Also on a ride like IASW where the screen at the end shows your first name (when it works) - it’s your account name, not what’s on the MB.

Oh I like putting the resort name! That’s clever too. There are so many good ideas, it’s going to be hard for me to choose.

Actually it does. We were sitting in Sunshine Seasons once near the fast pass entrance to Living With The Land and could see the screen that CMs see. It does display your name and if you are celebrating anything.

I put little nicknames on ours. Just personal family things.

Yes - as PP's said it displays your name from your MDE not the name/abbreviation/date you may have chosen for a particular magic band. Your band is just a key to the info in MDE it has no information on it.

So if we put elf names in our Christmas bands the CM will not see my name as Prancer while I am using it, the CM will see real my name as it appears in DME and call me "Jane" not "Prancer".

We get our Team's color and put our "Cheer" on the inside.

Oh, I like reindeer names for Christmas! We aren't going during a holiday so we can't do that, but it's still cool. I would like to go sometime for Christmas.

If you plan to go back, it's helpful if you put the year (or month and year if you go more than once a year). When you go into your MDE account and see all of your Magic Bands listed, having the year on there makes it a lot easier to figure out how old each one is. If you have a lot, some day you might want to disable the older ones because (a) the long-distance feature supposedly will stop working over time, and (b) sometimes cast members say that if you are having issues, it is because you have too many active for your MDE identity.
