Magic Band / Fast Pass question

I am a Disney veteran, but haven't been since the new fast pass and magic bands were implemented. I will need to make my fast pass choices next month. I haven't ordered out magic bands yet though. Do I have to have the magic bands before I can make fast pass reservations? I plan on trying to read the huge fast pass thread this weekend, but not sure how much I'll be able to get through. Thanks!

You just need to have your tickets linked to MDE to book FPs. Your magic bands are shipped closer to your travel date (when onsite, of course).

As PP says, no need to have MB before booking FP. Key thing is booking FPs going backward, so last day of your trip first, grab the set closest to your time preference, then go back and modify times. Good luck! :dogdance:

no you don't need a magic band in order to reserve or use FP+.

you do however need a ticket linked to your MDE account.

if you are staying on property you can book your FP+ selections up to 60 days in advance and can book your FP+ for lenhth of stay.

if you are not staying on property you can only book your FP+ selections up to 30 days in advance and can only book your FP+ one day at a time.

and just an fyi usually FP+ times open at midnight eastern standard time but if MK closes past midnight for regular park hours then FP+ will not open until 1am EST.

also you will be given 4 options of times. just pick one and then you can modify your times after.

Thank you for the replies. I feel completely overwhelmed with this whole process. We are staying onsite so I'll be online at midnight (or 1am) 60 days out. Work isn't going to be pleasant the next day, but I don't want the stress of not having it done.

Is there anywhere that has a step by step tutorial of how to do this? I've read part of the thread about the tiers, etc. But I still have to figure out MDE as well. I'm sure I'll appreciate not having to run to a fast pass machine or being able to sleep in, but I feel like I'm planning an invasion of a foreign country!

Booking and Modifying FP+ found HERE.

And, FP+ Priorities are listed in the highly recommended, super-complete, often discussed, gotta love it, not to be missed, must-read, gargantuan juggernaut, growing by leaps and bounds, constantly updated and refreshed by the DISboard's own mesaboy2...

Wow! Thanks!! I guess I have my work cut out for me!

The actual process of getting your FastPasses is easy. I think why most people feel overwhelmed is because it's a new process to them. It's really the same thing but you get to sit behind a computer and do it instead of running from kiosk to kiosk to kiosk to get the paper FastPasses. Just have your family members' My Disney Experiences connected and then you just click and go. But it's that first part that can be the problem. I screwed mine up with just my husband and I but I called and got it all straightened out. After that, it's a breeze.
