Magic Band decorating question

I am decorating our magic bands, well trying anyways! I have 4 kids so hopefully it will last for a few days. I am to the part of decorating the Mickey head in the middle. How do you cover just the Mickey to not get other color on it? Will a colored sharpie work to color it in if I nail polish over to seal it?

Check out the huge thread in the Community board under theme park attractions and strategies. They recommend against sharpies.
