Just officially booked our trip! Yeah!! They are having me customize a magic band for my 2 year old. I haven't been since 2011 so, I don't know much these. I'm pretty sure there is no way that she will leave it on. She still won't need a Fast Pass, correct? Also, how easy are these things to get on and off. I'm worried that if I do put it on her she'll take it off when I'm not looking and pitch it out of the stroller.

I searched and didn't find a Magic Band thread. What exactly can the kids magic bands do? I'd hate to lose one and have someone run through our meal credits or worse charge things to my card.

TIA

Your daughter doesn't actually have to wear the band. I suggest that you just hold onto it yourself.

There are many, many, many MB threads!

The two year old doesn't NEED ONE. But still gets one. She doesn't have to wear it.

For the older kids, they'll scan their bands to use a ticket for admission and to use a FP for rides. For credit card charges and DP credits you have to scan your band and then enter a PIN number that YOU choose, so no one could use your stuff without knowing the pin.

Set it up on MDE under your profile or you can do it at the resort front desk when you check in.

Excellent! Thank you for all of the info! I really appreciate it.
Lots of things came up for Magic Bands. I was looking for one official thread like I saw the other day for Fast Pass with all the general questions.

If you intend to use Extra Magic Hours, everyone in the room has to have a valid magic band linked to that room no matter if they are too young to need a ticket.

My DS2 insisted on wearing his for most of our last trip even though he didn't need to. He would "scan" it at the turn stiles for FP and park entry just like the rest of us because he wanted to be just like DS8. Usually the CM's gave him a super friendly comment about being such a big boy. We forgot his band the one day and he was pretty upset.

So while she technically may not need the MB, she may want to wear it like the rest of your party.

Last year we had one for DS (he was 9 months). I just kept it in our park bag. No one ever asked for it, but I had it just in case.

DD was 3 at the time. She liked wearing it because everyone else had one on. I thought she would hate it. You never know!

This exactly! I figured there was no way that my 2 year old would wear her band, but instead she was insistent upon it. She wanted to be like the rest of us. And the CMs were great, and would congratulate her on turning Mickey's head blue. So you may find that you're very happy that she has one. But oyu don't need it, and it's no big deal if it's lost - just go to guest relations and they can replace it (albeit with a grey one)
