Today is Key West …..and our Jungle Tour! Actually it turned out to be another action packed day. I mistakenly booked Palo brunch for today at 10:30 not realizing that today was the character breakfast (9:30). We made an attempt to not eat but failed...lol Krissy was all about taking pictures with the characters but Bre was trying so hard to be “cool”. We made her take a picture with goofy which she did graciously. It turned out to be one of the few pictures she took by herself with the characters. We were about 5 minutes late and missed one of the characters so make sure you go early. I didn’t realize they put on a little show ~ it was cute. The girls didn’t eat very well - Krissy was too interested in the characters and Bre was bored. The lab had mickeymation at 10:00 so we left breakfast before seeing all the characters. They ended up late anyway because I didn’t realize they were doing the activity in Animator’s Palate instead of the lab. Anyway, off we went to Palo. We stopped at the restroom and washed our hands first (glad we did because they didn’t hand out wipes). We met our server and was given a tour of the brunch. I was shocked! I had seen pictures of the cold buffet and thought that was all that was available. By the time the tour was over I was really regretting eating breakfast. There was breads/cheese/hot entrée’s/ pizza’s and dessert and did I mention shrimp and crab claw’s! The food was very good but we didn’t eat as much as we wanted to..lol I was impressed with the food but I didn’t care for our server much. She was full of herself and seemed “fake” to me. She was the only CM on the cruise that I felt wasn’t genuinely nice. I am glad we went but I am glad we didn’t miss our regular rotation to go. We docked in Key West as we were finishing up so I was ready to get going. I wanted to change for our tour so we went back to the cabin to change. Almost as soon as we walking in the girls called and said they were coming back. Great timing ~ about 20 seconds later we hear them opening the door. We hadn’t made clear that they were to call us before they left the club. Krissy told me that the CM told her she couldn’t’ sign herself out since she was technically not 8. Obviously she had so I figured I deal with that later.

It was a nice day but alittle cool so we didn’t even bother bringing our suits but the girls wore theirs under their clothes. We walked through town in search of the Hard Rock and ended up getting henna tattoo’s. Krissy and I got the °O° symbol on our ankle and Bre got a sun/moon/star thing. That was $60 easily spent! We got our stuff from Hard Rock and then made our way to Fat Tuesday’s for a drink. The girls filled out a few post cards while we were there. It was time for us to make our way to the tour. We took a cab and it was about a 15 minute ride. This was another surprise for the girls they thought we were going to be kayaking. They were very happy to find we were going to be driving our own speed boats! Krissy elected to ride with Chad being the dare devil that she is and Bre rode with me. We had the best time!! I can’t imagine doing anything that would have been better. While we went through the man-groves there was a group of people kayaking and Chad jokingly asked how many wanted to trade with us. The only other people with us was a couple of 20 something guy’s and they thought they wanted to snorkel. Once they got into the water they quickly changed their minds. So we had about 45 minutes to kill. Chad asked if we could ride some more so the tour guide took us to the southern most part of the island. We had so much fun on the open water ~ we got soaked from jumping each others wakes. Since this was my first time driving a boat I was not as adventurous as Chad but Bre and I held our own! We got back with just enough time to get to Mallory Square for the street performers and the sunset. We didn’t see very many performers because the girls were cold and hungry. We went up to deck 9 for pizza and chicken tenders. As luck would have it my camera decided to take it’s last picture right before sunset! Thank goodness for the disposable ones I had brought for the girls. The plan was feed and change the girls then go back into Key West but we were just too tired. We bathed and got dressed for dinner. Krissy wanted to take pictures with the characters so we missed our show. We would have been late anyway. Dinner was Parrot Cay ~ not my favorite meal. We tried the coconut prawns, the chicken wings and the okra gumbo for appetizers. The gumbo was an interesting color but I liked my red gumbo! I actually ordered a second cup for my entrée. Chad had the grouper with the vanilla ice cream with candied black pepper for dessert.

After putting the girls down and decided to check out the night-life. We went to see the dueling piano’s show but there wasn’t much going on in there. I mean we were one of 4 couples in there! So, we went next door to Rockin’ D and watched the Gary’s Cabaret show which was very good. We were back at the cabin by 11:30.

Well that’s all for Sunday – it was a jam packed fun day. Krissy begged us all day to go swimming. We were wishing warmer weather tomorrow so we could have a pool day!

You really showed the girls an exciting time in Key West on the speedboats. At first I thought they were like the water mice at WDW.

Thanks for sharing your trip.
Tina :)

We were also on your cruise, same rotation too! We were sitting to the right of that big middle aisle in parrot cay...anyway, I BET we had the same server at Palo!!She was sooo phony! We unfortunately, missed a night with our AMAZING servers to be subjected to insincere gush...If I ever get a second, I will post some reports too! Ready to go back???? (It's -31 c here)

I would love to get more info about this Jungle Tour, is it an excursion or something you did on your own. The name of the company would be great!
Thanks!
Sue
15 more days!!

here's a link

We did it on our own ~ I found out about them on the cruise critic board. I highly recommend them! The only "downside" is that you have to take a cab there because it is on the other side of the island. But, don't let that scare you it is only a short cab ride. The people are very nice ~ don't forget to print the coupon

have a great time

Thanks for the info! I e-mailed them and haven't heard back....what was the cost? Thanks-
Sue

I can't remember the exact amount but it was around $200 for the 4 of us. It was comparable to some of the Disney excursions but alot less crowded. Like I said in my review there were only 2 other people on the tour. If they don't email you back by tomorrow just give them a call.

Anxiously waiting to read about the rest of your cruise!!!

Still waiting for the rest of your trip report. Whats going on here? Do you actually have other things to do than write us a report? :)
Great reports so far.

It has been a mad house here! When my girls went back to school it seems the whole school was sick ~ my 4th grader had 14 of the 27 kids missing the Monday we came back. It didn't take them very long to catch it. They have been running 102° - 104° temps. I have boxes of Kleenex, empty bottles of Gatorade and medicine all over the house! My DH and I have managed to stall healthy so far but ???

well, I gotta go and give med's ~ promise I will get to the rest of my reports soon......

Take care and stay healthy!!!!

We will still be here when you have time to finish your report! Although, I personally will be LEAVING in JUST 9 MORE DAYs!!!!!!
