Sorry, I don't have pp breakdown. My TA will mail that out but only gave me the total for now.

So I noticed many people are opting out of the insurance that disney sells. WHy? Is there a better deal somewhere or do you just take your chances?

It seems like $800 is a little investment to protect my $10K in costs for the cruise. But then again for that 800 I could upgrade to the next deck verandah! LOL

Just wondering!

There are many threads about this and the pros & cons of DCL's insurance. For us we can get the same coverage effective immediately and without the preexisting condition clause by purchasing it elsewhere within 14 days of booking the cruise originally & kids are free with Access America, and other companies as well]. With DCL coverage doesn't start until they actually purchase the policy, which is the date your PIF requirement is. This means that if something happens between the time you book and your PIF date it will be considered a PE condition. We pay MUCH less for insurance this way.

For $244, I could buy the same Access America plan from www.insuremytrip.com for $10k in coverage, and as lbgraves mentioned, if you buy within 14 days or so of deposit, pre existing conditions are still covered. Some plans even offer a 'cancel for any reason' coverage if bought within the same 14 day window but last time I checked that it was extra, like another $150 or 120.

Hi

08/10/12 - Med 7 nighter.

11B 2A1C(14) - $3835 with 10% discount no insurance I don't have the spilt. The TA has just booked this and she said the pricing was still the same as on opening day as she has checked against a Gold members booking, made on Wednesday.

Great advice! Thanks!:thumbsup2

Hi Mel:

So we will be on the same cruise! :cool1: We booked a one bedroom suite (I know that's a Category 3 under the old system, I think it's a T under the new). Much more expensive than the Baltic, which is interesting because I think the non suite rooms are less than the Baltic. For 2 adults and 2 kids ages 17 and 15, it's $23,520 -- no insurance. My plan is to chip away at that cost over time so that the number doesn't pain me so much!

Cindy

Hi Cindy,

Good to see we will be cruising together even though Andrew bailed! I have only just seen your post, my DH has been in hospital since friday with pneumonia so not as much online time.

I think you are right that the non suite rooms are less than the Baltic, I seem to remember a starting price of $3.5k for Baltic and our adult cost is $2.5k plus $1.5k for each child (before taxes and the discount)

One day we will make it to the concierge level and see those cabins lol but right now I am happy to get on the ship!

Thanks, he is in the best place to get better - you just don't imagine that a 39 year old will get pneumonia at all, let alone bad enough to be in hospital, but such is life. Would love to have a look at your suite onboard -s ee what I am aiming for one day!!!!

Take Care, off to work now (7:18am here)

Take Care
