I get these great offers for magazines subscriptions but they all want to auto. sign me up again when the subscription ends with the credit card that I use. I would like to try out some of these magazines without being auto. renewed.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

When I see the auto sign in I skip it too. Just too much hassle. My local library has lots of magazines to check out.

Much easier to buy it from the store. Once you start that it is hard to stop it.

I get Time magazine at home, and can't renew it online because it would sign me up for auto renew. So I send in a check to renew. Maybe look for cards in magazines that offer you a way to mail in for a trial subscription?

Thanks again.
Someone else suggested that I get a cc say for $25. pay for the subscription with that and then just use the rest of the card on something else. They said when they try to renew the sub. there is nothing left on the card.
What do you think?

If it's a major magazine like a Conde Nast, Time Inc., or Hearst one you can turn off the auto renew once you get your first magazine in the mail and have access your account number to access it online. I did that back when I was receiving all of the fashion magazines.

That could work, or you could use a card that will expire before the renewal is due.
That may not work, unless you actually cancel the card. We had auto-renew on our Sirius radio account. I course they jack up the prices, so we knew we'd cancel after the initial 6 months.

Our credit card was compromised, so we got new cards/new number. I thought that would take care of the auto renew thing. I mean, they didn't have our correct number, right? Nope, our CC company either allowed the charge to go through on the old number or gave them the new one, because it still showed up on our bill!

It's easy enough to call and cancel though, and we've always gotten the full amount refunded if we call as soon as the charge shows up.

Depending on how many magazines you read each month, I would suggest checking into Texture. It is an electronic service that allows unlimited access to over 100 magazines. It is $10/month for most magazines, and $15/month if you want to add the weekly magazines (People, Time, Newsweek, etc.). I absolutely love it. You can cancel at any time. Free trial available.

That makes sense to me. The CC company has a record that you've autopayed in the past. I can see where they'd transfer the billing to a new card.

We are doing the "gift card" thing for Sirius currently. If we want to renew, we just put more money on the gift card.

Just call and cancel, that's what I do. My favorite 3 magazines all have auto renew (at the regular exorbitant rates, of course). I never pay that much!!

Also, I 'never' buy individual issues at the store - waaayyy too expensive!!
