Made up my mind, I am getting DDP!

Last time we got the DDP it was free, all resorts were included, you only had to buy 1 day ticket and their was no such thing as QS.

Last year when we went I felt as if I was nickel and diming every time we went to eat. We did not do sit down meals because the girls wanted to spend more time in the park then sitting and waiting for a reservation. They are not into meeting the characters. So, I have decided to get the QSP. This way I do not care if they only eat 1/2 of their burger or if I should get the cupcake they have been eyeing. They could go on their own and not worry about them going hungry.

The only worry I have is that we are renting points in OKW. Will it be worth it since we are staying here.

Did I make a good decision?

It seems as though you have really taken into consideration the needs of your family. I know what you mean about nickel and diming, I will always choose the less expensive item if I am paying out of pocket.

Think you will do great! Remind the girls they can split a QS, so they can try different things. We love both plans, but QS suits us many times!!!

We just got back from 9 days without the Dining Plan - we are now 4 Disney adults and I just couldn't justify the amount of the Regular Dining Plan. The good - we LOVED not having a TS meal scheduled every day. It definitely fits more to how we vacation now. We paid OOP for 2 TS meals. One was awesome...one was terrible. All the other QS meals we had we enjoyed. The bad - even though we had more than enough money budgeted for food, I felt constant pressure about the expense. Drove me insane!
Next trip - QS Plan for sure.

I forgot they could share a meal. That is a great idea in the middle of the afternoon when you are hungry but it is to hot to enjoy a big meal.

Yes it is the pressure that gets to me. Every meal you buy you wonder how much the next meal will cost. At the end of the trip you realize you did not have to worry because you have all this money left over. Yes it is nice to have the left over money but then you look back and realize you would of enjoyed your vacation more if you did not constantly scrutinize how much you are spending on food.

I know you mentioned about renting DVC points and using the QSDP. Are you renting the points and then purchasing the QSDP plan? or are you able to combine free dining with renting DVC points? Lol sorry its my first time even considering doing the free dining plan and also renting DVC points. Thanks DISers

No need to apologize it's a valid question. Unfortunately you can not get free dining when you are renting points. We are purchasing it separately. I know it is expansive but in the long run I feel it will work out because the girls can go on their own and I do not have to worry about the budget.

I don't understand the concern/connection between QSP and staying at OKW? If it's about paying for the QSP, then yes if that's how your family eats. If it's about the location, most of the time you'll probably be in the parks anyway and if you're at the resort, DTD is nearby with great CS options including one of my faves, Wolfgang Puck Express.

We are AP holders and live in FL, so I will basically be staying in the hotel and enjoying the quiet time. The park is just an after thought....for me. DTD is so crowded at night I will probably just be going in the late morning and enjoying lunch at EOS. My main concern is the QS menus at OKW. Also do they have a big selection of mug colors ( I know silly question), last year when we stayed in AKL they only had the black one. Do the have enough stations to refill? Those are my concern. If you have answers I would appreciate it.

CS is lacking at OKW but really how many meals do you eat at the resort? If you are eating in the parks then you will be fine. If you are looking to get meals at OKW than that is another issue.

No. Pay oop. You'll save money and it will be much more convenient.

Since you yourself are not going park crazy, you may enjoy taking the boat rides and transfers of boats to go to SSR quick service, it is supposed to be good., and from experience if you feel like going further up the river, POR is excellent for a QS with all their make you own options (pasta, salad, yogurt, etc.,). Plus some say the beignets at POFQ are pretty good too. This may give you something relaxing to try out.
