I managed to find a brand new D700 at a pretty reasonable price, and with my DD's first birthday less than a month away I pulled the trigger and bought it. I already have some FX glass and the higher IQ and ISO performance really pulled me in. I don't need the D800 because I don't need video, nor do I care for that many MP.

Thanks!!! I can't wait for it to get here already. Both of my kids have birthdays in a couple of weeks so I'll have lots of opportunities to test it out.

Congratulations!

Winter's the best time for one, too... lots of low-light shooting!

Congrats, you will LOVE it. A year later I still hear, "Everything She Does is Magic" in my head when I use it.:lmao: I almost forgot how to use my speedlight because I rarely use it anymore.

:rotfl: I really can't wait to take her to Disney in August. What lens do you use most with yours? I really am thinking the 24-70 and 50 1.4 are going to be my most used.

Those are my two go to lenses and probably spend even time on my camera. This winter the 50 is on inside most but during the summer I have no issues using the 24-70. (Don't be afraid to pump up that ISO!) They were perfect for Disneyland a couple weeks ago. I did some handheld night shots with no problem at all. I love the "scenic" feel of the 24 end at Disney, it just gave my pics a little more somethin' somethin'. I had to fairly wrestle it away from two Photo Pass guys who actually knew what they were holding. The one later passed me as I was shooting the parade and asked when I was going to give him "his camera" back. :lmao: I'll post a couple pics if you want.

eta: The D700 and 24-70 is a heavy combo. I used a LowePro Sport 200 back pack to haul it around. Super easy to swing around and pull my camera out.

I have a feeling those are the 2 I will use most also. I really don't see myself lugging a 70-200 around the parks along with the kids and all their gear, as much as I would love to. More than likely I'll just be keeping it on a Black Rapid strap so I have easy access. I wore my 6 month old in a carrier throughout our entire trip in (very hot) September so I think it will be alight.

I'd love to see some shots!

This was a trip for just me and my teen DD so we could just slow down, take pics and shop without worrying about getting anywhere at a certain time. I still have tons to process but here are a couple of my favorites.

And my favorite from the trip, something about this one I just love.

I love them! I really can't wait for the boy to get here today. I was happy to find a place that had it in stock (and not have to pay tax!). I can't believe it's coming so quickly. Maybe I'll play hooky from work tomorrow. ;)

PS- Your DD is beautiful!

Aww, thank you!:goodvibes It's hard to get a genuine smile out of her but somehow in Disneyland it was easy.

The day I got my D700 I stalked the tracking and scared the crap out of the Fed Ex guy by flinging the door open as he was about to knock. :rotfl2: I about lost my mind waiting for the battery to charge. Have fun with it and post some pics soon!

I'll be at work when it comes, but everyone has been informed to answer the door as soon as it rings or I'll have their head when I get home. :rotfl:

My DD turns 1 in a couple of weeks so I'm super excited to have it for her party.

Wow, great shots, Wen! I really like the shot of the castle.

Have fun with the D700, Dani! Can't wait to see pics.

I heard angels sing when I held it in my hands this morning. It does things with my 50mm 1.4 that I never dreamed of with my D60! Now I just need to get accustomed to where the new control buttons are. :rotfl: My DD is the perfect muse. Every time she sees the camera she puts on her biggest cheesey smile.

Thanks Chris! :goodvibes

Woo hoo!!! :cool1::banana::woohoo::yay:
I still hear angels sing when I use mine. It's a stellar piece of equipment.

This made me smile. I made the same jump when I got mine, from a D60 to a D700, and it really is like that! :goodvibes

Any shots to show us yet?
