is this normal?? I cannot choose Test Track and Soarin in the same day for FP…

That's how it works as others have said. Best option I think is to fp+ one, ride the other at park opening when the lines are not bad at all.

thanks all… I was hoping FP+ would help us have a more relaxing Disney trip (not having to run for morning rope drops), but I see not.

If you're only visiting Epcot once during your trip and you don't want to have any waits in line, you have to be at the park at opening. I don't think doing the mad dash at Epcot is needed though. Being there at opening and calmly walking to your first ride will work fine.

It's been said many times and will be said many more. Rope drop is the antidote to FP+. When used in conjunction, they can be powerful tools. But the idea that FP+ allows one to stroll into a tiered park at noon and enjoy everything in a whole new manner is pure fantasy.

I don't know that anyone suggests such a thing is possible under fp+. It's not, but neither was it true of legacy fp , nor was it true when there was no system at all.
WDW, in all our years of visiting, has never been a vacation where we casually strolled about picking out what to do next.

Seriously? With all the noise and chatter over the past 14 months, you never saw anyone post here that "FP+ is great because we can sleep in and don't have to make Rope Drop"? As for it being true under FP-, I could arrive at Epcot at 10:30 in the morning and get FPs for both Test Track and Soarin' in the same day. Easy. First FP pulled at 10:40. Second FP pulled when the next window opened (usually 2 hours later). It really wasn't hard at all. Two headliners. No waiting. Now if I want those same two headliners with no waiting, I have to make use of RD. I'll admit that we never strolled in at noon.

I agree.
My opinion is to FP+ TT because it goes down frequently and a FP+ can be used later in the day if its down during your window. Waiting in line stand-by during downtime would be an open-ended time sink.

Depends when you are going. We had fp for soarin and were able to ride TT with only 20 minute wait late in day in november

I just wanted to point out that the signatures aren't visible if you are not logged in. So, if anyone is having trouble finding the green link, login to see it!

Yeah, that makes my standard reply a little more complicated.

Okay, so here is your 1st:) We really like FP+ and for that exact reason:) Our family likes the parks better at night and we will only do RD maybe once during our trip, but normally arrive between 11-12. I can tell you that our experiences with the (old) FP in the past sure was different from yours. The first thing I would always do when we first arrived at any of the parks was to grab all our tickets and start trotting to the FP kiosks for the "BIG" rides we wanted. Well I would consider myself lucky to even get a FP and when we did it was not til in the evening. So instead of spreading those rides out throughout the day, we (if got a FP) would have them all crammed together:( Now, on our next trip in March I have 3 FP's i.e. at MK we have TMRR, SDMR and SM and I can have them all done before 4PM and have the option to get another FP for something else after that.

Not sure I see where the problem was.

But here's the thing on this. Parks are more crowded. Based on current crowds, if you pull a FP for TT or Soarin at 10:40, you're not riding that until 12-3 pm most likely. Pull the next one at 12:40 (or later if you're not right there that moment), you're not riding until 6pm. I remember many times during lower crowd times that by mid-day you had to wait hours for your fast pass. So now I have to make a choice - do I head to World Showcase and have to trod all the back to Soarin when it's my time? Do I force myself to keep busy in the front of the park till it's my time? I understand FP+ isn't everyone's cup of tea but there's a real glorification of how great the old system was. I hated criss crossing the part if you didn't plan your FP exactly correctly - or if the times didn't work when you get there. It was far from relaxing.

As for Epcot currently, I can't bring myself to even us FP+ for that park - not enough to do. When we go in lower crowd periods, we do Soarin at RD, usually on w/i 5 minutes and then head to TT. Usually no more than 20-30 minute wait at that point and even if it's more - it's likely the last line we're on in Epcot that day. Then rest of day is leisurely and when we head to WS, we don't have to head back up front.

All true. But compare that to today. Arrive at Epcot at some time other than RD with a FP+ for either Soarin' or Test Track. Encounter a 70-90 minute wait for the other. Me? I'd take the 12-3 FP- and the 6pm FP- any day of the week over the current scenario. Or.......arrive at RD, which was the whole point to my first post. RD is the cure for the problem that FP+ presents. (Just as it was for the difficulties that FP- presented).

See? We agree!! :yay:
