My DD (6) doesn't always want to eat. I have ADR for 4 people at Biergarten. If she chooses not to eat from the buffet will they still make me pay for her? Can she pick off my plate?

If she sits down you will be charged for her. This is true for all buffets or all you can eat meals

Picking off of your plate would be eating. And even if she eats nothing you will still need to pay the child's price for her.

The only time we were not charged for my (then) 4 year old to eat at a buffet was at Hollywood & Vine -- when she slept through the entire meal (dinner).

If she was awake, even if she didn't eat, I would have expected to pay for her.

Having to pay full (child's) prices for picky/small eaters just comes with the territory at Disney...we all put up with it. We were at Biergarten today. One kid ate a bunch of salami, half a pretzel roll, a couple bites of schnitzel, and a chocolate chip cookie. The other ate two rolls, half a pretzel roll, one bite of sausage, and a cookie.

We were actually in line to check in today and a group in front of us had an adult woman who wanted to be seated with her party and drink a beer but not eat any food and not be charged for the meal. They told her anyone is seated must pay for the buffet, regardless of how much they eat. She got huffy and they ended up deciding not to eat there.

We ate at Garden Grill a while back and DS did not eat ONE BITE. I did not know at the time he was going to be sick when we got back to the Hotel, but regardless of the reason, he did not eat and we did have to pay. I would love to have all the money I have spent on uneaten food at WDW.

In fairness to Disney, once you are in the restaurant there is no way for them to determine whether you eat or not. I imagine people would abuse the system if Disney let them in on the promise that they weren't planning to eat. Also at Biergarten you are paying for the entertainment too - which was wonderful BTW. It was my 2 year old's favorite restaurant at Disney!

I look at it this way, you are also paying for the "entertainment" whether it be characters or the entertainers at the Biergarten. Meals like Cape May, Boma, etc....well I would just avoid those since you really are just paying for the food.

A simple solution to this is to book table service meals where you order off the menu. Then you would only have to pay for what you order her and/or she can eat off your plate as well.

I honestly can't think of any buffet type restaurants outside of Disney that would let someone sit and not eat either.

Thank you!! I understand now.

I kept my reservation. I looked over the menu's at all of my ADR

The only time I did not pay for Ds buffet was when he was too little to eat (birth to 1yr). He was nibbling by 1, but they didn't charge b/c he wasn't scarfing down food like he does now. ;) . There is good kid-friendly food at Disney now so it shouldn't be an issue. Or you could try and use this as a chance to introduce new flavors to your kid. My brother didn't know he liked lobster until he tried it at Disney when he was ten!

For any Disney buffet or family style meal, children 2 and under are free.:)
