Hi everyone. I think I made a mess with my reservations and don't know if I can fix it or not. Used a travel agent (who has been great). Had booked free dining in September (bought trip insurance) and had to cancel due to family illness. Rescheduled for November. Free dining came up, but travel agent said we weren't eligible because of our original booking. So, now we have a discounted room, but not free dining. Is it worth calling disney to see if this can be changed? I did re-purchase trip insurance, so I kinda thought we had cancelled and re-booked, but I guess not. Thanks for your help:)

Disney won't speak to you about/can't change a TA booking.

Call back the TA... What does it means 'not eligible due because of the original booking'?

I could see the dates not being part of the promo, but if the dates you are going to were part of the promotion you were under, then as long as there is availability, you should still be able to switch.

What promotion and/or when did you book your original reservation?

You will have to talk to your TA because s/he is the only one who can contact Disney or make any changes to your booking.

You said you currently have a discounted room so perhaps your TA was saying you cannot have both a discounted room rate and free dining because Disney won't stack discounts. It would be worth doing the math to see which one saves you more money.

The TA said, "the Free Dining was not available when we changed your dates 9/16, so the Fall Discounted offer was the best available. Your orginal date (9/19-9/27) fell within the "old" free dining code so it was not applicable to your new dates" Whew! hope that makes sense to you:) I guess I don't want to think that my TA wouldn't look for the best rates for me...and she's been great...but I want to make sure I'm not missing out on saving a little to spend elsewhere:)
THanks,
Julie

So you booked with the original FD promo which only included dates until the end of September. Then, surely, you would not be able to use that promotion past that time.

BUT - when did you cancel and tried to rebook? Was it after the end of the Fall FD promo? If so, TA is correct - nothing you could do about. But if the Fall FD promo was still active, she should have been able to rebook under that.

The booking period for FD that extended through December ended on 9/15. If you changed your reservation after that day she would not have been able to apply the FD code for dates in November because it was expired. The original code you booked under didn't cover dates past September. Sounds like your TA did the right thing.

Now it makes more sense and I agree that, unfortunately, FD is not an option with your Nov dates since the book by date had passed when that res was made.

Ah, got it! Thanks so much everyone! I appreciate your time and helpfulness:)
