We are going to WDW December 2005. DH wants a value resort, but I would really like to stay at CS or WL. We made a bet. I am a horrible saver, but you have inspired me. I started a change jar, and DH will match 1/2 of what I save. Well, in one month I have saved 86.48.:bounce: :Pinkbounc This means that I have just under $130 towards upgrading from a value resort. I just wanted to share that, and say Thank You.

Good for you. This board has sooooo inspired me to save also. It feels so good. Have fun staying at the resort of your choice.

I'm over here still having problems saving. I did get the ING account for starters so that's a good thing. I need a little more Dis therapy. :teeth:

Save your money and rent points for your stay from a DVC owner on the rent/trade board. You can get deluxe accomodations for the price of a moderate resort. I rented points from a DVC member for our upcoming November trip and it only cost $600 for 5 nights in a studio (with a kitchenette) at Villas of Wilderness Lodge. That's only $120 a night so you'd already have one night paid for! Plus, when you rent points you avoid paying the room taxes.

I made a deal with my DH too! He was "Disneyed out" but said that if I could raise enough money to pay for the trip that I could go. So, I started eBaying and saving change and working as an election judge, etc. And have enough saved!!!

I agree with renting points from DVC member. We stayed last fall @ Beach Club Villas, which is a fantastic location. We rented for 6 nights for $830.00. That worked out to a little less than $140 night, but unlike a moderate, we had a refrigerator, toaster & microwave. We were able to eat breakfast in the room, keep drinks in the room, we made sandwiches for lunch & one night supper (we had a big lunch in the parks & didn't need a big meal). This may still work out to a little more than a moderate, but being able to eat breakfast or a sandwich here & there more than makes up for the difference.

Another thing about renting points, DH liked the DVC resorts that we just signed & now have our own points:sunny:

Good luck in your savings, you'll get lots of good info from these folks.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have already looked into mousesavers. It is an awesome site. A code would be a huge blessing, but I need to be ready for rack rate just in case. I would definately have to work on DH about renting points. He had a really bad experience with a time share trade in his teens. He is very cautious now.

You know, if you open an ING account (VERY easy to do) you will get 25 dollars just for opening - right off the bat - and then earn 2.1 % interest on what is in there. Plus, if you give out any referrals (and they take you up on it) you will receive an additional 10 dollars for each of those up to 25 referrals!!! You may want to look into that!!! There are a lot of us on the boards that can help you with that if you need it!!!

Good luck on your saving!!! These boards are definitely a great inspiration!!!!

If you are going early to mid December, moderate rates will most likely be very good with a code, comparable to a value without one so Coronado would probably be very doable. Wilderness Lodge often comes in at a good rate in December, around $119.00, sometimes even less, for a standard room.

You didnt mention how many nights you were staying but if you have a long time to save. I have no doubt you will get your wish of at least Coronado, but with those matching funds, probably WL.

Now sock that money into savings so it will earn interest!
