Made a 2012 Ressie at the Fort for MLB Spring Training

No real plan.

My kids all went to all the WDW theme parks this spring with their school groups. Even DW went with my DD as a chaperone.

Me? I don't feel the need to do all the WDW parks all the time. Did MK this year. Could even skip a visit to the theme parks this next trip.

Made my ressie for the week in March when the kids are on spring break. I have this dream that I will attend a couple spring training baseball games, sit in the stands with a dog and a beer, work on my tan, and watch the game. PS - I'm a born and bred Cleveland Indians fan, BTW.

The Braves are there at WDW, the Twins are in Kissimmee, and the Tigers are in Lakeland (not too far away). Throw in a visit to Typhoon Lagoon on a warm day and a full Fort day and the whole week is filled. (plus check-in and check-out days).

DW is not thrilled. Oh no, let the record show she is not. She won't let me go by myself or with my sons (boys only trip) but she doesn't want to sit through the games but instead wants to spend $100 per day per person to go to the parks (in her mind we have to do everything together). I said if that's the case it's not in the budget (or she can get an extra job delivering pizzas to pay for it).

I feel hopeful when there's a ressie out there. Oh sure, I can always push it out to some future date but it helps knowing that I'm headed back SOMEtime.

Anybody ever done the spring training thing with no parks using the Fort as Base Camp? :3dglasses

Sounds like fun to me! Go for it. We may be coming down around the sometime, we are thinking of getting APs on our trip in June. That would mean the Fort in Nov, Dec, Mar, and June again. We might then be considered Fiends, if that is still PC here.

I do like baseball, and that spring training does sound like it would fun, but my spring training would consist of being at the Fort with a red cup in one hand anna fish'n pole in the other. Anyways, as "retired" said, "If Mama ain't happy,.... "

YensidCamper, as for me, I would rather be thought of as a Fanatic Friend of the Fort / Fort Fanatic.
(out with the old, in with the new ! that's my humble opinion)

Ken, I hear ya.

I should have added that my DW was raised as a "home body" and going anywhere on vacation gets her worrying about something. Anything.

That's just her nature.

But she's also the type that once she gets there she relaxes and has a good time. It's hard for me to read when I'm pushing too hard versus pushing through the concerns but I'm getting better at it. The Key West we took this past March which I posted about was a perfect example.

Up until about 3 months before we left it was "why do we have to go so far", "can't we go to Universal?", "how about the beach?". But I detected an interest there so we had the trip and it was fabulous (I posted a brief TR here since we stopped at the Fort one night both on our way to Key West and on the trip home).

I learned long ago not to pull the sudden surprise trip with her. Oh no. :woohoo:. I learned it's better to be honest, come clean early, and build brownie points up until departure.

If any of my brothers/sisters/uncles share the site then the more the merrier. You can put up to 10 people on a site, right? Having SILs, BILs, nieces and nephews might help build my case right? It could end up being a big ol' Bama ED family reunion, huh? :grouphug:

This is our plan as well. We made reservations for March 3rd through the 10th. We plan on taking in 2 Tigers games while we are there. Luckily for me, my wife is a huge Tigers fan, so breaking away from Disney for a couple days wont cause any issues.

btw, My Motown Kittys are catching your Tribe in the standings!

ArticCat,

I have us arriving on March 10.

Your Tigers might catch the Indians who have a tradition of playing their best ball in April then snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. :happytv:
