Is this a kid friendly movie? We've never seen it and I was thinking about buying it tomorrow.

I know Cat in the Hat was to be for kids but I didn't like 2 parts of the movie and would never buy it due to that reason.

For those who saw Madagascar, did you like it and was it kid friendly?

Like most movies these days, there are some little bits of adult humor-some of which goes right over their heads. I agree that Cat in The Hat seemed to have more crude humor-I thought Madagascar was fine though. My girls loved it! The music is catchy and the characters have quirky personalities that make them endearing. :sunny:

I TOTALLY agree with you regarding Cat In The Hat, it was DIRTY! I mean it's funny for adults but it was perverted! Madagascar is NOTHING like it, no sexual references or curse words like CITH.

I didn't buy Cat In The Hat either and felt that it was a little crude even for my older kids. Mad. definitely had some adult humor, but nothing like Cat in The Hat

Thank you. Guess I'll be going out to get this tomorrow. The cheapest I know of is 19.99. I heard that Best Buy will have them for 14.99 but I don't have any near me.

If you know of anywhere cheaper than 19.99, please let me know... I'd greatly appreciate it!

I always check out the movie review by Movie Mom. If you look up the movie on Yahoo, there are links on the left hand side of the page. Movie Mom is one of them. She does a pretty good job of listing anything in the movie that might bother parents. Here's a link for Movie Mom's review of Madagascar...

I agree with the pp, although I don't really think Madagascar is worth buying either. It's appropriate for kids, the adult humor went right over their heads, but I don't think it was something we would watch more than once and my kids haven't asked for it, although they know it's coming out. It's cute, just not great in my opinion.

Off the subject a little bit, we saw Chicken Little last weekend and will definitely be buying that when it comes out. I loved it as much as my kids.

Thanks. Maybe now I will just wait for Chicken Little instead. My mom got her Cinderella and I already got her Toy Story and Wizard of Oz. She's been asking for those...

Maybe Chicken Little would be better.

I'm getting it just because I love that "I like to Move it" Song that King Julian the Lemur sings!
:rotfl:

We loved the movie and will definitely be buying it this week. DS is 4.5 and can't wait to see it again!

We also loved it. I think Movie Mom is a little over the top with her review. It was cute & funny. We will still (months later) break into "I like to move it, move it" out of the blue.

The DVD has the video to that song-we rented it this past weekend and my DDs watched the music video over & over again... :cool1: :dancer:

I actually saw this movie while at WDW this summer. I took my 2 kids my friend's 2 kids and her teen aged sister. The kids seemed to really like the movie and i didnt find any thing that was too adult for them .

I liked the movie and catchy music too, but not enough to buy it. I will however be buying Robots and in Dec. Kronk's New Groove! I am curious to see the Madagascar Penguin movie too-anyone seen that?

We get tons of new release movies from our local library. They have everything and anything you want to see. Plus tons of old Disney classics. Big bonus-all FREE!

Target has it for $14.99 and it comes with rubber bracelets with the charactors on them. It was really funny, we loved it and I am very picky about what movies DD sees. The penquins even have their own Christmas movie clips out with some movies.
Sound of Music is also released today with 6 hours of unseen footage. I have always loved that movie.

we loved it too, I will be buying it today :)

My friend saw Chicken Little and said it wasnt any good at all and she loved Madagascar.

:confused3

all a mater of taste I suppose.

I LOVED Madagascar and plan on getting it soon. I also want to get Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Polar Express. I can't remember the last time I've wanted so many movies!

Madagascar was the 1st movie my now 3 year old dd saw in the theater. She loved it! Of course she didn't get some of the humor, but she loved it just the same. I will be buying it for her stocking this year.....along with 2 Dora dvds and the Little Einstein's Huge Adventure dvd.

"......THIS SUCKS!"

That's the one line from the move that my 4 year old remembers the most. It's a FUNNY line and a great movie (for my taste much better than Chicken Little)

Both the boys are still singin "We like to Move it Move it...." "... MOVE IT!"

But there is one obvious "THIS SUCKS" while not the worst thing in the world it was rather funny a day or two later when he was playing "Trouble" with grandma and pops a 1 and wouldn't you know it, he looks up at grandma and says... "Well.... This sucks!" Honestly it was a riot, I wish I had it on tape. I'm just glad it wasn't at school!
