On our flight home from our very first trip to Disney World, my DS8 and DD4 had their Mickey ears hats on. DS got one that has lights on it and DD got one with princesses on it. They loved their hats. There was a family in front of us with two boys who were a few years older than mine. As we were close to landing they were both laughing to each other and they turned around and said to my kids, "nice hats" followed by more chuckling. Then they tried to make small talk since they saw me watching them. Their dad was in the row over and he turned around and told them to stop. They said, "we're just talking and asking them where they are from". At this point I just told them where we were from and kept an eye on my kids faces. Shortly after those boys turned back around both of my kids took their hats off and said they wanted to just put them in their bags.
I was so sad at that moment. The kids never brought it up after that.

I am glad to hear that the parent of the other kids corrected them! DD has learned that Disney is fine at home, but around other kids, she plays it cool.

My son was teased just the other day for singing the pirates song outside. Tell your kids to wear those hats and think of the wonderful magical time they had.
